The parents Volunteer Appreciation Lunch was held on 8th June (Wed) and more than 30 parents and 10 senior staffs attended the lunch. The parents complimented on the great arrangement and varieties of food. All members bid farewell to Christin and expressed appreciation on the time and effort put in to the RAPT and the School. Tel : 3556 3595 be dearly missed. 3 Treasurer's report The balance in bank account amounted to $1,056,000 (as of end of May 2016) and most payment has been paid to the School. It is anticipated that the balance shall remain the same by the end of this financial year. 4 Principal’s Report Jamie was invited to sit in for Dr. Brown and reminded all members on the following events:- - House Fest for Yr1 & Yr2 was held on 13 June (Mon) and the students had a lot of fun dancing and playing with water - Science Fair for Yr9 was held on 13 June (Mon) for sharing of science work - Scholarship Award Ceremony was be held at the evening of 13 June (Mon) - Band of 40, will perform on 14 June (Tues) at Hong Kong Disneyland - Student Led Conferences for primary students will be held on 14 & 15 June (Tues & Wed) to celebrate student's ownership of learning - RCHK Idol will be held on 15 June (Wed) to showcase talents among secondary students - Yr6 Celebration Assembly will be held on the morning of 15 June (Wed) to celebrate the great work accomplished in the year and the transition to Yr7 - Final Assembly for primary and secondary students will be held on 17 June (Fri) to reflect on the things that they have done with their houses, introduce them to their new house captains and bid farewell to the students and teachers who are leaving the School 5 Administrator's Report Arthur reported that there will be a remainder of 6 boxes of toys for the use of College Fair after the donation of 16 boxes to the Salvation Army and 10 boxes to Wu Kai Sha Kindergarten respectively. All note members agreed to hold the upcoming sale in the week of 5 - 8 September. 6 College Fair 2016 Teresa reported that up to this date, the Committee received approximately $100,000 (Inclusive of $22,000 remained from last year's raffle prizes) in raffle prizes A video was launched and uploaded on the Facebook last month and received favorable responses. The first newsletter was also issued last week. Recycling packages are being collected for the making of large collages and the committee is coordinating with the art teachers and art scholars to work on the artwork after the summer holiday. The color of the Fair T-shirt is agreed to be orange and black. For better communication and in order not to clash with the Terry Fox Run, the Fair Committee has agreed to the sale of the Fair T- shirt and raffle tickets after 21 October, but the promotion of College Fair shall be on-going. A few of the Fair Committee members shall attend the Final Assembly to be held on 17 June (Fri) to promote this year's College Fair. 7 Funding Support - Bradley explained that staffs from the Purchase of a Digital Performing Arts Department feel that the current Mixer and Portable Audio sounds of both inside and outside of the PAC Rack are unclear when the volume is set higher and delays happen. An audio visual expert, John Tang, also a Fair Committee member has been consulted and he advised that the solution to the problem is the Renaissance Association of Parents and Teachers Limited 5 Hang Ming Street, Ma On Shan, N.T., Hong Kong. Tel : 3556 3595 purchase of a digital mixer and portable audio rack. The funding application has also been reviewed and supported by Samuel. It is expected that the inside and outside of the PAC will have louder volume and clearer sound after the installation of both new equipments. The cost of both equipments at $38,500 are reasonable for the models proposed and both models and costs have also been reviewed and verified by John Tang and department staffs. All members supported the full amount of $38,500. 8 Update from Club Fund Teresa has obtained a list of interest/activity Request Council clubs from the School but the list is not comprehensive. After discussion on several options, It is agreed among Committee members that the sponsorship of fund should be made available to all clubs that are registered with the RAPT after open invitation. The Committee members have also established the following criteria for those clubs to be considered valid for registration and application of fund sponsorship:- - the clubs must be supervised by the School's teachers; - the clubs must have at least 10 active members; - the clubs must stay opened and continue to run for at least 12 months and year-after-year Whyment suggested to send invitations to RAPT & Council teachers who are already supervising a club(s) members to follow and to seek their interest in club funding. up Jamie proposed to approach teachers to organize and supervise a club(s) to extend continuation after an active season for better Renaissance Association of Parents and Teachers Limited 5 Hang Ming Street, Ma On Shan, N.T., Hong Kong. Whyment has reservation on the opted out criteria of club(s) to represent the School for competitions and pointed out that the objective of fund sponsorship of club(s) is to join the club(s) and participate as an interest rather than making it competitive. All members agreed with the ceiling budget of $20,000 to be set aside as funding of sponsorship. Pending on the total number of clubs registered with RAPT, RAPT will then further consider the allocation of fund based on the nature of each application. 10 AOB Next Committee Meeting at 6:30pm on 5 September 2016 (Mon) at The Boardroom, 5/F Renaissance College. Louisa expressed concern on the recent outbreak of mosquitoes/ insects bites in the School premise. Jamie assured the members that the School worked under the advice to clear all standing water on the campus and within the 50-meter perimeter. He pointed out that it could be a result of a particularly wet period and/or the effect of neighboring construction site. He ensured all members that the cleaning is carried out regularly and on occasions of outbreaks, the cleaning will be carried out even more rigorously. Both Samuel and himself are fully aware of the situation and will further look into the matter. Michelle pointed out that she was denied a land phone to make a phone call at the Main Reception area and was advised to use the phone at the MTR. Tel : 3556 3595 Carrie raised a concern on a recent occasion when one of the School staff ordered a Blue Team staff not to offer umbrellas to cover the students getting on the CC buses after school on a heavy rainy day. Jamie will discuss the complaint with Samuel and will follow up with the matter. Bradley updated all members that the drum kits and amps funded by RAPT have been installed to the practice rooms of the Performing Arts Department are and are currently being heavily used. There is currently a booking system in place and the newly placed equipments give good incentive for future use of the rooms. Bradley also updated all members on the M Track Energy Monitoring System funded by RAPT, assisted teachers in teaching and allowed students to make good choices in the use of energy. At the recent assembly, the Yr5 students shared some of their findings (through learning and using the system) on the saving of electricity.
