How long does it take to load the upgrade? The amount of time it takes to load the upgrade depends on how much data exists in your database. Page 4 of 9 ACS 2006 Upgrade FAQ Do I have to be an administrator on the network to load the upgrade? No, but you must load the ACS 2006 Upgrade CD from a workstation that has all of your ACS software installed on it, such as People Suite, Financial Suite, and the Growth Suite. The upgrade loads only the files needed to update the modules you own. This is determined by the modules loaded on the workstation. If you try to load the upgrade on a workstation that is not an administrative workstation, you receive an error message, and the upgrade program does not complete. What network rights do I need to load the upgrade? • Use default security settings and try to avoid setting policies. If policies are necessary, implement them one at a time. Document and test the policy before setting the next policy. • The share settings for ACSNET must be Full Control Everyone, and the STFS permissions should be Full Control Everyone. • You do not need to share the C drive of the server because it is possible to map workstations to a partitioned drive on the server that contains the ACSNET folder. • Protocol must be TCP/IP only. You can use DHCP or static address. • Set the network card to half duplex. The full duplex setting works with switches and the half duplex setting works with hubs. Try setting to full duplex and then half duplex, and monitor the differences in performance. • Verify that the paging file is set to at least 12MB higher than the physical RAM for Windows NT Server or 1.5 times the amount of RAM for Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003. Should I disable my virus scanner before loading the upgrade? If you use Norton AntiVirus™ Corporate as your virus protection software, you must disable the real time scanning before you load the ACS 2006 Upgrade. Once you load the upgrade, you can enable the real time scanning. If you do not turn off real time scanning, you experience major performance issues while loading the ACS 2006 Upgrade. Note: ACS Technologies suggests that you disable any virus protection software before loading ACS 2006 to ensure the best performance time when loading.
