FIRST LOVE, LOST LOVE, THE BEST SUMMER OR THE LONELIEST WINTER. WE MARK OUT OUR LIVES WITH MUSIC. IN THE FOG AND CONFUSION OF THE LAUGHTER OR PAIN, THE GOOD THAT REMAINS DEMENTIA, HEARING A PARTICULAR SONG CAN IGNITE A FORGOTTEN FLAME THAT, FOR A MOMENT, LIGHTS THE WAY TOWARDS A PEACEFUL SAFE PLACE WHERE HOLD ME TIGHTER STILL, KEEP ME SAFE UNTIL SMILES ARE REBORN. HOLD ME CLOSE, BEFORE I… This play would not exist without the magnificent people I have met on this journey. I would like to thank Cwm Taf choir in Merthyr for inspiring this play, and for their time and patience as I sat in and listened to their song, their stories. Further, the Alzheimer’s Society staff, volunteers and people of Tyˆ Hapus, Barry, Ruth and Angela and all at Wrexham Alzheimer’s Society choir, and Sarah and Rhiannon at the Sing for Life group in Brecon. I never failed to shed a tear, see my own life reflected, burst into laughter or share a common humanity with the members. Brain cells need each other to function properly, to pass on the signals to each other. In dementia, proteins block these bridges, fracture the flow of life. When these connections are broken the messages cannot cross, so the cells die and parts of the brain stop working effectively. You lose the ability to remember, you lose your appetite, you forget how to bake a cake – the cells fade and die when they can’t interact with other cells. A bit like a choir, a bit like us, a bit like society. In these times of public sector cuts, of unchallenged inequality, of food banks and an economic policy parading as moral imperative, we need to acknowledge each other, listen to each other’s song and if a voice is damaged we need to sing louder. But somehow music, melody and song surge over these snapped synapses, connect and heal if only fleetingly… but for that moment life is beautiful, life is connected. PART OF FESTIVAL OF VOICE, A NEW INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL IN CARDIFF, 3 - 12 JUNE 16 RHAN O Wˆ YL Y LLAIS, GWˆ YL NEWYDD RYNGWLADOL YNG NGHAERDYDD, 3 – 12 MEHEFIN 16 All over Britain these groups exist. They meet, they sing, they live. I wanted to bear witness to their inspiring work. The choirs are evidence people live, and live well with dementia, and Before I Leave is my small part in breaking down the negative assumptions around the disease. As Johnny Cash says in ‘Hurt’, WITH SPECIAL THANKS FOR THE USE OF A SONG FROM THE FOLLOWING SOURCE: ‘But I remember everything’. • Newyddion News Mrs Hart Said: “Currently Healthcare Staff Have to Use Many Different Computer Systems Throughout the Day to Be Able to See the Information They Need
8 January 2010 W-100013Hlth Health Minister gives go ahead to revolutionise NHS’ computer systems Plans to revolutionise the NHS’ computer systems enabling health professionals to access important patient information quickly and securely have been approved by Health Minister Edwina Hart today [8 January 2010]. Backed by £2.5m of Welsh Assembly Government funding, the new system - known as The Welsh Clinical Portal - will give one view of the information held about the patient, making it easier for healthcare staff to provide better care. It will bring together information held in the many hospital computer systems that doctors, nurses, clinicians and pharmacists use on a day-to-day basis. The first phase of the portal, which has been successfully piloted at some hospitals, gives faster secure access to existing information. Healthcare professionals at these sites are now able to request tests and view results electronically. This latest investment comes as part of the Assembly Government’s Informing Healthcare programme which will improve patient care and the working environment for staff. Other systems recently approved as part of this programme include the patient’s website My Health Online announced earlier this week. Newyddion News Mrs Hart said: “Currently healthcare staff have to use many different computer systems throughout the day to be able to see the information they need. This can take a lot of time and may not provide the information that is needed to best treat patients. “The portal will provide healthcare professionals with more information when they are treating their patients, helping to support their decisions and reduce the chance of inappropriate treatment or error.

  • Manic Street Preachers Tornano Con Un Nuovo Disco, Intitolato Futurology, in Uscita L'8 Manic Street Preachers Luglio 2014
LA REDAZIONE Il primo singolo estratto è "Walk Me To The Bridge", dalle chiare influenze europee.

  • Sherman Theatre Senghennydd Road Cardiff CF24 4YE Charity Registration Number: 1118364
Sherman Theatre Senghennydd Road Cardiff CF24 4YE Charity Registration Number: 1118364 The Sherman Theatre was opened in 1973 with substantial financial support from what is now Cardiff University. In 1987, the University withdrew its financial support for the theatre and offered it for sale. The Arts Council of Great Britain purchased the building with a special grant from the Welsh Office and the new Sherman Theatre Company was granted a 125 year lease. Ownership has now passed to the Arts Council of Wales (ACW). From 1990 – 2006, the theatre had a strong focus on theatre for young audiences until 2007 when, at the instigation of the ACW, the Sherman Theatre Company and Sgript Cymru, the national development company for theatre writing, were merged to form Sherman Cymru – now Sherman Theatre. In 2014, following a restructure of the Executive Team, Rachel O’Riordan was appointed Artistic Director of the company and has delivered a successful vision over the past five years. During her tenure, the theatre has firmly placed the development of Welsh / Wales- based artists at the heart of its new writing strand of work with successes such as Iphigenia in Splott, Killology and The Cherry Orchard by Gary Owen, Bird by Katherine Chandler, Tremor by Brad Birch, among many others. Following a £6.5 million redevelopment, beginning in early 2010, the Sherman building re- opened its doors in February 2012. Public and backstage facilities were transformed. With its 452 seat main-house and a flexible 60-150 seat studio theatre, it is a fantastic facility for the arts in Cardiff.

  • An Abstract of the Thesis Of
AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Nicolas Evans for the degree of Master of Arts in English presented on June 2, 2017. Title: (Mis)representation & Postcolonial Masculinity: The Origins of Violence in the Plays and Films of Martin McDonagh. Abstract approved: ______________________________________________________ Neil R. Davison This thesis examines the postmodern confrontation of representation throughout the oeuvre of Martin McDonagh. I particularly look to his later body of work, which directly and self-reflexively confronts issues of artistic representation & masculinity, in order to gain a more nuanced understanding of his earliest and most controversial plays. In part, this thesis addresses misperceptions regarding The Leenane Trilogy, which was initially criticized for the plays’ shows of irreverence and use of caricature and cultural stereotypes. Rather than perpetuating propagandistic or offensive representations, my analysis explores how McDonagh uses affect and genre manipulation in order to parody artistic representation itself. Such a confrontation is meant to highlight the inadequacy of any representation to truly capture “authenticity.” Across his oeuvre, this postmodern proclivity is focused on disrupting the solidification of discourses of hyper-masculinity in the vein of postcolonial, diasporic, and mainstream media’s constructions of masculinity based on aggression and violence. ©Copyright by Nicolas Evans June 2, 2017 All Rights Reserved (Mis)representation & Postcolonial Masculinity: The Origins of Violence in the Plays and Films of Martin McDonagh by Nicolas Evans A THESIS submitted to Oregon State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts Presented June 2, 2017 Commencement June 2017 Master of Arts thesis of Nicolas Evans presented on June 2, 2017 APPROVED: Major Professor, representing English Director of the School of Writing, Literature, and Film Dean of the Graduate School I understand that my thesis will become part of the permanent collection of Oregon State University libraries.
