Please refer to DO Letter No.31963/A-II/PHQ dated 12.11.2018 from Commissioner of Police, Delhi to the Chief Secretary, Govt. of NCT of Delhi (copy enclosed) and apropos our telephonic conversation on 25th July, 2019.

Special Secretary (IS), Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi held a meeting on 03.07.2019 to discuss and evolve viable options in augmenting the status of the National Police memorial in terms of facilities, public involvement as well as popularity. It was decided in the meeting that Delhi Police will liaise with Department of Tourism, for inclusion of National Police Memorial in the local tourist circuit.

A concise note on the National Police Memorial, , New Delhi is enclosed herewith highlighting its significance for the general public. Considering the significance of the National Police Memorial for the police forces and general public throughout the country, it is considered imperative to spread awareness amongst general public on contributions of police in the service of the nation. In view of the same, I would request you to kindly consider including the National Police Memorial in Delhi Tourism Circuit and advise all tour operators to make it a regular tourist destination for various tourist buses/HOHO services being run by the DTTDC and the Tourism Department of Delhi.

I shall be grateful if this matter is taken on highest priority in the honour of the police martyrs who have laid their lives for the cause of national unity, sovereignty and integrity.

The Hon'ble Prime Minister of India has recently dedicated the National Police Memorial at Kautilya Marg, Chanakyapuri, as a relic of police martyrdom to the Nation. The Memorial embodies the supreme sacrifice of policemen, Civil Police and Central Armed Police Forcet (CAPFs), who have laid down their lives while performing internal security duties.

In this regard, I would like to draw your attention to the letter of Union Home Secretary, Govt. of India, New Delhi vide D.O. No.II-27011/NPM/2018/IS III, dated 8th October, 2018, (copy enclosed) wherein he has desired that visits of school children of Delhi be organized to the . National Police Memorial, and suggested that "ideally visit of children of one school to NPM should be organised every day". I would request that necessary directions may. please be issued accordingly.

In addition, I would also request you to kindly consider including the Memorial, which is very near to Nehru Planetarium & Teen Murti Bhawan, as a regular tourist destination for the various tourist buses/HOHO services, being run by the DTTDC and the Tourism Department of Delhi. Needless to add, the Memorial, with its imposing central sculpture, museum and Wall of Honour, will indeed be a memorable place of visit for both domestic and international tourists.

I shall be grateful if further needful action in this matter is taken on priority in honour of the police martyrs who have laid their lives for the cause of national uriity and integrity.
