The Case of Adiyaman (Turkey) İsmail UKAV Department of Accounting and Tax, Kahta Vacational School Adiyaman University, Adiyaman, Turkey Abstract Almond consumption is constantly increasing due to its nutritious properties. Almond production is unable to meet the growing demand in Turkey and therefore the import is done. The almond growing in Turkey, which is one of the oldest fruit species in Anatolia, is becoming increasingly important. Almonds grown in all regions except the Eastern Black Sea coasts are noteworthy for the increase in production in Southeastern Anatolia Region. Adiyaman province, which is one of the provinces of the region, has come to the point of almond growing in many respects for studying. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the existing almond growing potential of Adiyaman. The potential in almond growing of Kahta, one of the districts of Adiyaman, is in the scope of this study, as well. In the study, benefiting from Turkey's Statistics Institute data, analysis and comments have been made In addition, almond cultivation data were obtained from producers and evaluated. Using the statistical data of TSI between the years 2009-2018, the area where almond is grown, the number of bearing and non bearing trees, yield and production amounts has been determined and the increase rates during the period have been calculated. Almond production area in Adiyaman increased by 35 times and amount of production increased by 26 times during the ten years examined. -

Yüz ölçümü 1490 km2, Rakımı ise 750 metredir. Kâhta’nın kuzey ve güney kesimi engebeli bir araziye sahiptir. Şehir düz bir alana kurulmuştur. Güneydoğu Toroslar silsilesi üzerindeki Nemrut Dağı 2150 metre, Narince Kasabasının kuzeyinde ise Anka Dağı 2206 metre ile ilçenin önemli dağlarındandır. İlçenin en önemli nehri Fırat Nehridir. Tarihî köprülerinden olan Cendere Köprüsü, Kâhta Çayı üzerinde bulunur. İlçenin güneyindeki önemli arazi Atatürk Baraj Gölü suları altında kalmıştır. Turizm bakımından oldukça zengin bir ilçemizdir. Kâhta Kalesi, Cendere Köprüsü, Karakuş ve Nemrut Dağındaki Kommagene Krallığına ait anıtları gibi. Kâhta central town is the largest and the most crowded town of Adıyaman. The surface area is 1490 km2 and altitude is 750 meter. The North and the South of Kâhta has an uneven field. The Nemrut mountain, which is in the southeast Toros, is 2150 meter, The Anka mountain, which is in the North of Narince town, is 2206 meter and this is one of the most important mountains in the borders of the town. Euphrates river is the most important river of the town. The historical Gendere Bridge (Roman Bridge) is over the Kâhta River. -

Adıyaman ilindeki büyükbaş, küçükbaş ve kanatlı atıklarından elde edilebilecek gübre miktarlarının biyogaz olarak değerlendirilmesi çalışması yapılmıştır. Büyükbaş, küçükbaş ve kanatlı hayvan verileri Adıyaman İl Gıda Tarım ve Hayvancılık İl Müdürlüğü’nden alınmıştır. Bu verilere göre 2015 yılı itibariyle il genelinde 81.733 adet büyükbaş, 305.724 adet küçükbaş ve 231.358 adet kanatlı hayvan bulunduğu hesaplanmıştır. Hesaplanan atık miktarlarına göre, elde edilebilecek gübre miktarı büyükbaş hayvanda 294.238.80 tonyıl -1, küçükbaş hayvanda 214.006.80 tonyıl -1 ve kanatlılarda ise 5.089.88 tonyıl -1 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Hesaplanan gübre miktarlarına göre biyogaz üretim miktarı büyükbaş hayvanda 6.473.253.60 m3yıl-1, küçükbaş hayvanda 8.274.929.60 m3yıl-1 ve kanatlılarda ise 264.673.50 m3yıl-1 olup, toplam elde edilebilecek enerjinin eşdeğer karşılıkları ise 70.560.426.49 kWhyıl -1 (254.017.53 GJyıl -1) olarak hesaplanmıştır. İl genelinde hayvansal atıkların bir biyogaz tesisi ile enerjiye dönüştürülmesi mikro ve makro ekonomi açısından önem arz etmektedir. -

Hearts, Minds, and Pockets: The Political Economy of Civilian Support for Kurdish Insurgency in Turkey Tolga Sinmazdemir∗ March 28, 2016 ∗Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science and International Relations, Bogazici University, Istan- bul; Research Officer, Department of Government, University of Essex Abstract Does poverty make ethnic insurgencies more likely? I argue that if (a) civilian support for insurgents plays a decisive role in their success, and if (b) civilians experience a reduction in public goods provision after supporting insurgents, then insurgent attacks are less likely to occur in poorer regions. This is because lower income makes poorer individuals more vul- nerable to losing public goods, and therefore makes them less willing to support insurgents. I test this argument using data on attacks by the Kurdish insurgency between 1988 and 1999 in 20 Turkish provinces that are poorer than the national average, and in which Kurds form a significant share of the population. I find that in provinces with initially high levels of public goods provision, attacks are less likely when per-capita income of the province is a smaller percentage of the national average. Moreover, higher unemployment is associated with fewer attacks. Within the field of study, 27 different micro fungi were detected on a total of 33 different weed species in the wheat fields.Peronospora aparines (de Bary) Gäum. causing downy mildews ofGalium aparine L. is recorded for the first time in Turkey. The morphological characteristics of this newly-recorded species in Turkey were presented.
