Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication and thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God………………… So, as we say each week in our Interregnum prayer we continue to thank God for His ever-lasting faithfulness to us. At this time of uncertainty and change our faith will be tested, we may wonder if we are doing the right thing, but we need to be brave and trust in God. Each week we are blessed with visiting Clergy, who have been inspiring us in different ways, and they have also been touched too by worshipping with us. We have also been reminded that unanswered prayer is not an indication that God does not care, or that our prayers don’t matter, but may be that perhaps we have work to do ourselves in order to make it happen. Keep praying and don’t lose heart. With prayer in mind we were so delighted that at our last prayer meeting, we were requested to look at monthly prayer meetings, so we can really focus on our future and praying for God for His guidance in the way ahead. We therefore are holding a prayer meeting on Monday 4 November, from 8.00pm to 9.00pm and all members of the congregation are invited, to pray either silently or out loud, whatever works for you, God will hear us regardless! We have been blessed with lots of people getting involved in all sorts of activities in our Church life, and there is always something for someone to do, but we all do things as part of our Church family, and use the wonderful gifts that we have been given. Sometimes we are not always sure we have a gift, and we just need to be brave and try! Everything that you are able to do is greatly appreciated by us. As you know we have no idea how long our Interregnum is going to last but we are busy getting to know the Clergy in the Deanery. The new Archdeacon of Dorking, Martin Breadmore, will be admitted on 24 November and the wardens have an opportunity to meet him on the 2nd December at a Deanery lunch. We hope that will give us the opportunity to start the ball rolling on discussions as to our future and we are already badgering his office to invite him to take a service in the New Year……………… we will keep working at that! And as we enter November, we remember all those people who have been dearly loved by their family and friends and have also been part of our Church Community and worshipped at St. Barnabas. All those people who have gone before us and those in our Parish who gave their lives for their country. This year the uniformed groups will be joining our service on the 10 November and we look forward to their remembering with us on that day. Times may have changed, but it is still right to stop and reflect, remember and honour those who died on our behalf. We read in the Bible that there is a time when wars will end for ever, when God will judge between nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. Until that day comes, we need to ensure that we are right with God, by asking Jesus to bring us to him, knowing him as friend and Lord, Saviour and helper throughout every situation that we face. Helen and Sarah Coffee Morning: This month’s coffee morning will be Thursday 7th at 11am. Please do join us. Soup Lunch: Our popular soup lunches continue on Thursdays 14th and 28th. Soup and bread will cost £4. Soup, bread, cheese and cake £5. Please support our fundraising event. Knit & Natter: Our next date is Friday 15th at 2pm. We will also continue upholstering the church chair seats in future get- togethers. Please try to come along to help. Cabaret and Dinner - Saturday 7th December at 7.30pm: Tickets for our cabaret dinner are now on sale at £20 each. We will again have the very popular singer, Howard Dee, as our cabaret. You also have a choice of food from Penelope Caterers. See fliers for full details. Tickets can be purchased directly from the church office or on-line and can only be purchased in advance because of catering. It is not possible to purchase on the door on the night. Carols round the piano - 15 December at 5.00pm: Do join us for our annual carols round the piano, which will be a more informal style this year. An opportunity to sing your heart out with your favourite carols. There will be a mixture of Christmas readings and poems and an opportunity to have a lovely social afterwards with a glass of mulled wine and mince pies. So if you have a carol that you really want to make sure we sing, or have a Christmas reading you can read, or can help with refreshments, then please let us know. Just let us know if you would like to be involved in anyway. Helen and Sarah. Angel Project: As many of you know, for the past two years we have been involved with Epsom Primary and the Angel Project to provide Christmas gifts to many of their schoolchildren and siblings who otherwise may not enjoy any gifts at Christmas. At the time of going to print we do not have the final details from Epsom Primary (it is half term) so in the coming weeks we will fill you in. Perhaps friends and relatives would like to join in. What normally happened is that we have a tree in church with lots of cut outs of angels hanging on it. These cut outs have an age and either “girl” or “boy” written on them. You just pick one (or more if you like) buy a gift, wrap it and return it with the angel cut out attached. Epsom Primary collects the gifts before the Christmas holidays and they distribute to the families. Churches Together in Epsom Rep: We still have a vacancy for this post and would be grateful if anyone who is interested contact either one of the Church Wardens or Janet Roberts for further information. Servers: We are always on the look-out for more servers. If it is something you might be interested in please speak to Helen or Sarah. th 7 Viviane Sinnock th 8 Anne Baxter rd 23 Jo Campbell th 26 Jean Rozier th 27 Gordon Rozier 28th Penny Spring BIRTHDAYS Parish Prayer Chain: Together We Can Make a Difference Please sign up to prayer triplets – list in the narthex.
