Elements of exhibit construction, such as cradles, strapping, draping material and risers, are usually designed to fade into the background. This exhibit will bring these elements to the forefront, allowing viewers to clearly see how these components contribute to successful design. Themes of accessibility, preservation, and aesthetics will also be explored. All materials used in this exhibit, as well as information on exhibit design and proper care and handling, are available from the University of Illinois Library Exhibition Committee.     Chair-Elect (1 position) ● Sara Borden Sara Borden is a Certified Archivist with a Master of Arts degree in history with a concentration in archives from Temple University’s Center for Public History. She is a dedicated archivist, public historian, and information professional who strives to be the best possible steward to the collections in her care and offer her patrons the best possible research experience. As with many archivists, archives is Borden's second career, but she considers it her true calling. She has loved history and doing research her whole life. Borden loves helping researchers discover the document that is the key to their inquiry, or teaching students that archives are not intimidating places and that when they visit archives, they can and should touch the documents. There is nothing quite like seeing a student make a connection between an historical event and a piece of paper that was created during that time. She works on a college campus and not-so-secretly believes she has the best job at the university. Currently, Borden is the Head of Archival Collections and Services at Rowan University Archives and Special Collections (UASC), where she has held several positions since her hiring in 2016. Borden's responsibilities include overseeing the daily functions of the UASC, processing collections, creating access points, writing and editing finding aids, making decisions regarding digitization, working with on- and off-campus stakeholders, fielding researcher inquiries, and instructing students. Prior to her time at Rowan, Borden was the Digital Services Librarian at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and also held positions at the Penn Museum and PhillyHistory.org.

    My week at AAB was a total TELLURIDE CAMPUS immersion experience. Nothing compares with being surrounded by people who all care Since 1993, Telluride, Colorado has been home to the passionately about books and American Academy of Bookbinding. The historic Old Stone A SCHOOL OF bookbinding. Building in downtown Telluride houses the bookbinding studio. Built in 1909 and constructed of native stone and indigenous red limestone mortar, the building was first EXCELLENCE used as a livery stable and assay office, and then by old Founded in 1993 by Tini Miura, Einen Miura and Daniel Tucker, the American Academy of Step-and-a-Half Adams, the local undertaker, for his trade. Bookbinding is an internationally recognized, degree-oriented bookbinding school that The building experienced many business incarnations offers book enthusiasts of all levels the opportunity to initiate and improve their skills in over the decades. Completely gutted and remodeled in a generous and supportive learning environment. A program of the Ah Haa School for 2009 and 2010, the beautifully renovated facility consists the Arts, the Academy conducts intensive courses in the fine art of leather binding, book of a well lit, 1,400 square foot bookbinding studio and a restoration, repair, preservation practices, and related subjects.
