01 TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME Ms. Michelle Nowacky’s and Ms. Dominique Wells’ Toddlers

Acrylic Painting

ARTISTS: Jack Burkavage, Charlie Chou, Clara Dyke, Echo Gilhool, Paul Gooch, Han He, Palmer Hill, Sloane Hill, Aya Khalifeh, Leela Pizer, Ashwini Rainer-Pradhan, Zain Rasul, Shoshana Simon Levy, Carter Thomas, Ava Webb and Wyatt Weinmann

This original painting was created using acrylic paints. Each child chose up to 4 different colors to paint on watercolor paper. After posing for their ballgame photos, teachers used the photos to cut out their silhouettes from their paintings. Their silhouettes were glued down, giving the appearance of fans cheering on their favorite baseball team. If you listen closely you might hear them singing... “cause it’s 1, 2, 3 strikes you’re out at the old ball game!”

The children in Ms. Laura’s class recreated a beloved scene from the children’s book Puff the Magic Dragon by Peter Yarrow. Reading the book has become a daily circle time story for the children this year. They love singing along and talking about their own imaginations and what the land of Honalee would be like if they were there too. After an intense discussion amongst themselves on which page they wanted to recreate, the children began their auction project by painting the sky using paint rollers. Once the sky was finished another hue of blue was chosen and the children painted the sea. Watercolors were mixed and the children painted watercolor paper in shades of browns and greens, that would later be cut to represent the rocks and mountains. The next step was using a sea sponge to paint the mist, and a rope brush to paint the clouds. Then the children each chose a unique color that would represent them as they filled in both Puff and Little Jackie using only their index finger to put paint to canvas. The last step was carefully placing the string from Puff’s hands up through the air into Jackie’s hands.

*Comes with a photobook showing from start to finish all the work the children put into making this piece, as well as a key showing which color belongs to each child and a copy of the scene that was recreated from within the book.

04 A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD Ms. Cherise Sistrunk’s Toddlers ARTISTS: Sophie Beckham, Bridget Cunningham, Adrian Daly, Quynh Emeritz, Grant Grennan, Savannah Lin, Jordan Maletz, Knox Mitchell, Blair Previtera, Eric Sakaguchi-Dib, Jack Simmons, Wesley Styons, Alexa Sugarman, Hazel Williams and Simone Zyborowicz, guided by Ms. Cherise, Ms. Alexis and Ms. Patty

Throughout the school year our focus has been on building community in our classroom. This art piece is a depiction of just that, our classroom as a community.

Using acrylic and watercolor as a medium, the group utilized four techniques in the construction of this project: painting, printmaking, scissor cutting and collage work. The children began by applying a wash of blue and green watercolor to the work surface. Shaving cream printed clouds were incorporated to simulate the sky. Next, they applied black and white paint with the use of a scraper to create a textural sidewalk. The houses are comprised of geometric shapes including triangles, trapezoids, rectangles and semicircles. The children selected one or two of these shapes before painting their houses. As a finishing touch windows and doors complete with actual home number plates were added to unify the piece. When all is assembled, the result is this lively collaboration.

EITC is a Pennsylvania state program that makes a very positive impact at Greene Towne by funding financial aid. As a donor through EITC, you receive a 90% state tax credit in return for your contribution. For example, a $5,000 EITC gift will result in a $4,500 PA tax credit for you and Greene Towne receives $5,000 to award in financial aid for students. Your net contribution after the tax credit is only $500. It really is a win-win for all involved. Businesses and Individuals can participate!
