A period which I learned a lot, met incredible people and had several different life experiences. It is always a challenge to remember and thank all the people that somehow were part of this journey or inspired me in all the possible ways. Although I will try: I want to thank my Mom, Dad and Carolina, my sister that were always there, supporting me in my decisions and unconditional help in all the different ways possible, teaching me that being part of a family also means to be part of a team. I also want to thank my extended family; grandmothers, uncles and aunties that were supporting and giving me incentive to carry on. Special thanks to all my friends for the patience and for the help in understanding that everything I had to gave up or do this past year I was studying was for a good reason. I want also to thank all the people that I met throughout this past two and a half years, people from all the parts of the world that are somehow a part of who I am today. Moreover, I would like to thank the people who helped me with the interviews or any kind of info that is now a part of my work: Prof. Luciano Thomé, Gabriela Hage, Renato Magnani. I would also like to thank the Prof. Luciano Thomé and Prof. Nadia Vianna for the dedication on reading my dissertation and for the valuable inputs given in my final exam. Finally, I want to thank FGV and CEMS for all the help given; to Prof. Luis Henrique Pereira for the patience, support and guidance throughout this past year and special thanks to Prof. Tales Andreassi, Prof. Mario Aquino Alves, Prof. Julia Pacheco and Maria Cecília Menezes for their everlasting support. THE FAMILY ROLE ON THE INTERNATIONALIZATION PROCESS OF FAMILY BUSINESSES 6 ABSTRACT This dissertation aims to identify the family role in the internationalization process of two family businesses: JBS, the world‟s largest protein producer and Cutrale one of the world‟s leader in the orange juice market. Family businesses have characteristics that are intrinsic to this type of firms. Many of the internationalization reasons or even the way they internationalize has several characteristics that are common among other family businesses. Therefore, through a qualitative research the two case studies were analyzed based on the internationalization and family businesses theories. However, in those companies the role of the family was not a key role on the firms‟ internationalization processes. This aroused questions such as whether the size and/ or industry of the company had an impact on the family‟s role on the internationalization process of the business. These questions were not the focus of this study but are subsidies for future research. Keywords: internationalization process – family-owned companies – family impact on internationalization – agribusiness. • Making Annual Safety Training Fun by Julie Quinn, Minnesota Department of Commerce
Making Annual Safety Training Fun By Julie Quinn, Minnesota Department of Commerce Do you provide annual safety training to your employees and are looking for ways to make it more engaging? For the last couple of years at the Minnesota Department of Commerce Weights and Measures Division, we have used a game show format to make the safety review memorable. Last year, our field staff played “Employee Right to Know (ERTK) Jeopardy” at their annual training. This year they played “ERTK Family Feud.” Both years, I think employees were engaged and had fun. This year I tried to consciously apply the Addie Model to our ERTK review so that we could judge the game format on its effectiveness as a safety review technique. ADDIE stands for Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate The Addie Model is a guideline for building effective training by breaking the process into five phases – analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. When training is ongoing, the process becomes circular. The evaluation of past training informs the analysis of current training needs, which then influences the design of the next training cycle. Analysis Evaluation Design Implementation Development Analyzing Training Needs The Weights & Measures Division’s Safety Committee is responsible for developing the annual safety review. The subjects covered are dictated by the Employee Right to Know (ERTK) Act. ERTK is a Minnesota State OSHA requirement. Most states have similar OSHA requirements although their states’ programs may call them by different names. ERTK requires that employees receive initial training on the risks, prevention and treatment for injuries related to harmful chemical agents, physical hazards, and infectious agents they may encounter on the job.

  • Game- Mini Family Feud
Game- Mini Family Feud SUPPLIES Feud Categories (see Resources) Tape Pens or pencils Optional: buzzer or bell SET UP Print the Feud Categories and tape it to the wall. RELATE Share with the family that they’re going to play a version of the game show “Family Feud.” Point out the categories taped to the walls and ask everyone to write their answers. Each category needs only five answers. Make sure they put their name next to their answers. Once everyone writes down at least one answer, gather the papers and split everyone into two teams. How to Play: Step 1: Invite one person from each team to be the first contestants and come to the front of the room. Step 2: Read one of the statements from one of the categories. (Example: “Name something you might find in your little sister’s room.”) Step 3: The first child to hit the buzzer (or raise his hand) gets to answer first. He must not give the answer he wrote. Step 4: If the person gives an answer that’s listed, he gets to decide whether the members of his team will guess the remaining four answers or pass on that task to the other team. Step 5: The people on the team chosen will give their guesses for the category. Step 6: If the team guesses all of the answers for that category, it gets 10 points. If the team fails to guess all of the answers, the other team gets a chance to guess. At this point, the other team only needs to guess one of the answers to get 10 points.

ESPRITES for Family Feud | 1 The first South Africa and Ghana editions of the hit TV game show Family Feud brought to SA and produced by Rapid Blue were recorded in December & January at the Urban Brew Studios in Johannesburg, with lighting designed by Joshua Cutts and supplied by Blond Productions … including 12 x Robe ESPRITE LED profiles newly purchased by Blond … making their African TV production debut! The hugely popular American Family Feud show has been syndicated worldwide to over 50 different countries and is one of the longest-running and most popular TV games shows, having started in 1976. Since 2010, it’s been hosted very successfully by Steve Harvey. Blond Productions, based in Midrand, is a busy South African rental company specialising in supplying lighting, video and audio production to the television, film and commercial sectors. They asked Josh to come onboard working with Mauritz Neethling as his associate LD and collaborated on a joint pitch with scenic specialist Dream Sets and set designer Michael Gill to present a full technical / creative package to Rapid Blue. Once their bid was selected, a collective decision was made to use the ESPRITES which arrived just in time from Robe’s SA distributor DWR to make the show for which lighting was programmed and operated by Ryan Lombard, who also designed the lighting system. ESPRITES for Family Feud | 2 Some basic style guidelines from the American show were applied to the lighting and Josh also drew inspiration from previous iterations as a formula that had worked well over the years, which included keeping a similar colour scheme.
