Batwing Cycles Sept. 12, 1015 we caught up with Jerry Black, owner of Batwing Cycles, and talked Veterans Charity to him about his event for veteran’s suicide prevention awareness “Kill 22” which refers Bikini Car & Bike Wash to 22 vets a day who end up committing suicide in the US.

Jerry: For today’s event we’re covering for “Kill 22 Foundation” which is an organization which supports and brings awareness to veteran’s suicide. We are a V-Twin shop but we also do metric as well. It’s been a great event today; we’ve had a lot of people show up, a lot of support from some of the different clubs out there today. We also had some vendors come out to enjoy from Biker’s Choice, some from Mustang Seats, Progressive Suspension, so it’s been a pretty great day, and we’re hoping to continue on until 4 o’clock this evening.

QT: You had a bike wash today?

Jerry: We did. We had a bike wash, a car wash, but not that many cars, mostly bikes that came through.

QT: And food?

Jerry: Food from the Pizza Bowl. They’re across the street and helping us out with discounted food and drinks.

QT: And you’re a veteran yourself?

Jerry: I am. I’m a veteran, I retired in March of this year after 21 ½ years in the Marine Corps, and decided to call California my home and open up my own shop instead of working for somebody.

QT: When will your next event take place?

Jerry: Next month, probably the 3rd week of the month. We try to do something different every month. Next month I think we’re going to try to start a swap meet right here in Lake Elsinore. We’re in a great spot here because we’re right between Temecula and Corona, which is a gap for motorcycle shops. Our shop is set up as a do-it- yourself maintenance shop. So, you pay to come in to work on your bike, we have a technician here on staff. He’s here to assist if you get stuck on something. And we also do full service as well.
