CB(1)1012/04-05(04) Legislative Council Panel on Transport Subcommittee on matters relating to railways Performance of Ma On Shan Rail after commissioning Purpose This paper informs Members about the performance of Ma On Shan (MOS) Rail after its commissioning on 21 December 2004, and the progress of noise monitoring of MOS Rail. Performance 2. MOS Rail has attracted an average daily patronage of 80 000 to 90 000 passenger trips since opening and achieved a single-day record of 125 000 passenger trips on 24 December 2004. All MOS Rail stations are operating smoothly and MOS Rail passengers are now generally accustomed to the interchange arrangement with East Rail at Tai Wai Station. Both Tai Wai Station and East Rail have enough capacity to handle the additional passengers resulting from the commissioning of MOS Rail. Even during the morning peak hours, most MOS Rail passengers can board the first East Rail train that arrives. 3. MOS Rail operates more than 500 trains a day. The train service delivery and punctuality rates for January 2005 were 99.92% and 99.74% respectively. These rates are above KCRC’s performance requirements as laid down in the service agreement with the Government. Improvement measures 4. Over the past two months, passengers have made a number of suggestions on MOS Rail services. As for Members’ request for follow-up actions on the noise monitoring of MOS Rail, an update on the subject is detailed in paragraphs 14 to 17. 5. To familiarise passengers with the operation of MOS Rail and the interchange arrangement at Tai Wai Station, KCRC has employed 130 temporary service ambassadors and, during the first week of operation, set up information - 1 - counters at the concourse of all MOS Rail stations to provide assistance to passengers. -

PRESS STATEMENT 13 November 2019 MTR Unable to Provide Normal Services Due to Repeated Vandalism by Rioters The MTR network and facilities have been repeatedly vandalised over the past several days. A total of seven rail lines were affected today (13 November 2019) and train service on some of the lines had to be fully or partially suspended. Furthermore, seven stations were forced to close as station facilities were maliciously damaged or operations were disrupted. A large number of commuters all over Hong Kong was adversely affected because of these incidents. The MTR Corporation strongly condemns the rioters’ acts which endangered the safety of passengers, MTR staff and railway operations. The Corporation has reported the cases to the Police and reserves the right to take legal action against the parties concerned. After the end of service hours yesterday, rioters broke into several closed stations to set fires and vandalise trains, stations and trackside equipment. On the East Rail Line, there were arson attacks that targeted two trains stabled at Sheung Shui Station and a train stabled at University Station. Another train stabled at Mong Kok East Station was also damaged. In addition, a track-side signaling equipment room near Fo Tan was attacked. Considering these stations had already been damaged during the day yesterday, the Corporation had no choice but to suspend the train service of the East Rail Line from the start of traffic hours today. Following recovery efforts by engineering personnel, train service between Hung Hom and Tai Wai stations resumed at around 5pm with trains by-passing Kowloon Tong Station. -

Allan ZEMAN Chairman Lan Kwai Fong Concepts Holdings Limited ○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○ Personal Allan Zeman has lived in Hong Kong for over 30 years and is very involved in the local community. Business Interests Allan was the chairman and founder of the Colby International Group ("Colby"). Allan founded Colby in 1975 to source and export apparel to Canada. Under Allan's leadership, Colby was one of the first supply chain management companies to source apparel from the PRC and to open offices in Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines. In the 1980's Colby expanded its customer base to the United States and opened additional offshore offices to service its growing customer base. In the early 1990's Colby opened a hardlines division and a product development department and introduced to its customers advanced communications technology. As a result of the changes, Colby experienced dramatic organic growth in the early 1990's, growing to one of the largest supply chain management companies in the world. Currently, Colby has 36 offices worldwide from which it sources apparel and customer hardlines in 59 countries. In late 2000, Colby was sold to Li & Fung Limited, a Hong Kong listed company who is Colby's major competitor. The merged company will be the largest independent supply chain management company in Hong Kong. Allan will remain an individual shareholder of Li & Fung Limited. Allan is also the founder of the Lan Kwai Fong Group. Through the Lan Kwai Fong Group, Allan developed Hong Kong's most popular entertainment and tourist destination, Lan Kwai Fong. Allan is the Chairman of Lan Kwai Fong Holdings Limited, the major property and developer in Lan Kwai Fong. -
