Very little has been published ) in South Africa on these beetles since Peringuey and Distant made 2 1 their recordings. Many additions to the list of our species have 0 2 been made over the years, ~nd recent revisions of most of the Tribes d e composing this sub-family have assisted in -clearing much of the t a confusion which has hitherto existed. d ( r For the purpose of this list, the line formed by the Cunene and e h Zambezi Rivers has been taken as the northern boundary of the s i l South Africa region. It is, of course, recognized that such a line is b u purely arbitrary but it is used as a matter of convenience. Probably P e no natural boundary exists south of the desert regions of North h t Africa, but our insect fauna is at present too little known to define y b a more satisfactory line. d e It is thought that a list of South African Lamiinae would be t n welcome to workers in this country. Original descriptions only have a r g been quoted and synonyms recorded so as to bring the work as e much up-to-date as possible. Reference has also been made to the c n e particular parts of the region from which the species enumerated c i l have been recorded, thus giving as much information as possible r e within the limits of such a list. d n The following species appear to have been erroneously recorded u y from South Africa; no proof exists of their occurrence in the region. a Opsies capra Pasc., the type in the B.M. is labelled "Old Cal1>'ibar;" w e t Dul£chillnt bigibbosum Thoms., this is a synonym of Menton (s.g. a G Dulichium) Digglesi Pasc., and is a native of Australia; and Estola t e obscura F., which is a native of South America. n i b a [P/'/( C 10/- nettJ [329J S y b d e c u d o r p e R 330 A Check List of South African Lamiinae One species, Lagochirus funestus Thoms., a native of Mexico, has been imported into South Africa for the purpose of pest control and has become firmly established in the Uitenhage District of the Cape Province; it is, therefore, included in the appropriate place in the list. In the course of the text two new names are proposed, firstly, Eunidia Thomseni Dist. var. guttata nom. nov. pro guttulata Auriv. Guttulata is preoccupied by Sphenura guttulata Coqu., which is a species of Eunidia. We also propose Oberea pseudovaricornis nom. nov. pro Oberea varicornis Fahr., which is preoccupied by Oberea varicornis Pasco We will be grateful to have any errors or omissions pointed out to us, as it is our intention to issue supplements to this list when a sufficient number of species new to the South African region has been discovered. A catalogue of the types of Lamiinae (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae) housed in the Muséum d'histoire naturelle, Geneva. - A list is provided of 218 holotypes, the syntypes of 15 species and subspecies, and paratypes of 129 species and subspecies of the Lamiinae presently housed in the Muséum d'histoire naturelle, Geneva. Most of the names were published by S. Breuning. As the taxonomic treatment of the Lamiinae was often inade- quate it was necessary to check the original descriptions for all names listed. The authenticity of several "types" is found doubtful. They are indicated by "?HP" or "?PT". Unpublished information from labels is given in square brackets. Illegible handwritten text is indicated by the sign , When a description was published twice, a reference to the second description is given in parentheses. A large part of the material on which the work has been based is included in the collections of the Lingnan Natural History Museum of Lingnan University, Canton, made on various expeditions, principally by F. K. To in 1932 and 1935, by Prof. W. E. Hoffmann, Mr. 0. K. Lau, and Dr. F. A. McClure in 1932, and by the Fifth Hainan Island Expedition of the University in 1929, as well as on col- lections made by myself on my trip (34) to the island during the summer of 1935. The remainder of the material studied includes, among others, part of the collection made by Mr. J. Whitehead in 1899, and the specimens collected by Commander G. Ros in the spring of 1936. ADLBAUER Abstract: Metalocerus becvari spec, nova (Saphanini) from Zimbabwe and Ochimus grobbelaarae spec, nova (Cleomenini) from the Western Cape-region, South Africa, are described as new species. Megalofrea parasparsuticollis BREUNING 1971 is considered as a synonym of M. cinerascens FAIRMAIRE 1901 and remarks are made about Frea comorensis BREUNING 1948 (Crossotini). Key words: Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, new species, new synonym. Einleitung Von Miss Elizabeth Grobbelaar, Plant Protection Research Institut, Pretoria, erhielt ich eine Bestimmungssendung, in der ein Pärchen einer noch unbeschriebenen Cerambycidenart enthalten war. Ein weiteres Exemplar dieses Taxons fand sich in der Sammlung von Herrn Herbert Schmid, Wien. Außerdem bekam ich von Herrn Stanislav Becvär, Tschechien, ein Tier, das aus Zimbabwe stammt, und das sich ebenfalls als unbekannt herausstellte. Beide Arten werden nachfolgend beschrieben. Studien an Cerambyciden Madagaskars bzw. den Komoren ergeben einerseits eine neue Synonymie bzw sollen andererseits eine klarere taxonomische Einschätzung ermöglichen. Saphanini Metalocerus becvari spec, nova (Abb. 1) Holotypus o: Zimbabwe centr., 20 km W of Ngezi recre. park (Kwekwe env.), 30.11.-1.12.1998, S. Becvär leg., coll. A. Beschreibung: Länge: 8,5 mm. Habitus: Relativ breit, besondes die Elytren nach hinten zu leicht erweitert, abgeflacht. Färbung: Kopf mit Ausnahme des Clypeus, des Labrums und der Mandibeln, Antennen bis auf die Spitzenglieder, Beine, auf der Unterseite Metathorax und Abdomen schwarz oder schwärzlich. Mandibeln, Clypeus, Labrum, Prothorax, Mesothorax inkl. Scutellum und Elytren einheitlich gelbbraun.

ADLBAUER Abstract : 66 species of Cerambycidae are recorded from Kyambura Game Reserve, Western Uganda. The genus Tibestia PEYERIMHOFF 1936, gen. prop, with the species T. dallonii PEYERIMHOFF 1936, spec. prop, are replaced as genus and species. Derolus bifarius DUFFY 1953 is declared as subspecies of D. incultus (GERSTÄCKER 1855), stat. nov., Ceroplesis militaris irregularis HAROLD 1878, stat. nov. is raised to subspecies rank. Hypoeschrus abyssinicus v. gyllenhali LEPESME & BREUNING 1955, syn. nov., Chariesthes (Pseudohapheniastus) ugandicola BREUNING 1967, syn nov. and Zographus ugandicola BREUNING 1970, syn. nov. are new synonyms. It is shown, that the remarkable white coloured 7. segment of the antenna from Anauxesis rufa BREUNING 1948 is obviously a secundary sex characteristic. Nyoma kyamburensis spec, nova and Exocentrus (Ispaterus) pogonocheroides spec, nova are described as new species. The biology of the species Chariesthes {Pseudohapheniastus) obscura GAHAN 1890 and Zographus nitidus ssp. typ. (AURTVILUUS 1914) is investigated for the first time. Altogether 36 species (= 54,5 %) are reported from Uganda for the first time. Key words: Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, new species, new synonyms, taxonomical changes, biology, new records, Uganda. Einleitung Ein Sammelaufenthalt in der Nsere Lodge im Kyambura Wildschutzgebiet vom 21.3. bis 7.4.1998 erbrachte den Nachweis von 70 Cerambycidenarten, die allerdings nicht alle zufriedenstellend determiniert werden konnten. Im Untersuchungsgebiet, das sich zoogeographisch in einem sehr interessanten Gebiet befindet (siehe Diskussion), wurden erwartungsgemäß viele ausgesprochen beachtens- werte Arten festgestellt, die entweder vom faunistischen Standpunkt sehr bemerkenswerte Nachweise darstellen oder taxonomische Neueinstufungen und Betrachtungen erlauben.
