English Language Studies, Sanata Dharma University Abstract Meanings are related to language functions. To comprehend how the meanings of a word are various, conducting componential analysis is necessary to do. A word can share similar features to their synonymous words. To reach the previous goal, componential analysis enables us to find out how words are used in their contexts and what features those words are made up. “Shoes” is a word which has many synonyms as this kind of outfit has developed in terms of its shape, which is obviously seen. From the observation done in this research, there are 26 kinds of shoes with 36 distinctive features. The types of shoes found are boots, brogues, cleats, clogs, espadrilles, flip-flops, galoshes, heels, kamiks, loafers, Mary Janes, moccasins, mules, oxfords, pumps, rollerblades, sandals, skates, slides, sling-backs, slippers, sneakers, swim fins, valenki, waders and wedge. The School of Goldsboro Ballet Attire for 2021-2022 Dance Season For All Classes at the SGB no midriff or cleavage should be visible with any attire at any time. Cover ups should be appropriate for the class they are taking. During Cold weather a Ballet Sweater (not a regular sweater or shirt) may be worn until a dancer is warm or the teacher requests it to be removed. Tap, Modern, Irish, Gymnastics t- shirts/cover ups are acceptable unless the teacher requests the removal for technique study. Ballet Classes- All dancers must wear -Ballet Pink Tights (ages 7 and up need to wear seamed or mock-seamed PERFORMANCE tights for Performances ONLY) -Ballet PINK shoes (ages 10 and up may wear Split sole shoes. All dancers under 10 should wear a FULL soled Ballet shoe). LEATHER BALLET shoes are required for PERFORMANCE and ONLY Company may wear Canvas in class, but must have leather for stage. -Boys should be in a Black Ballet shoe (canvas is acceptable for boys). -Pointe Shoes (ONLY when recommended by the Ballet Instructor when the dance is ready.) From 1999 to 2000, the eccentric, reclusive actor wasn’t preparing for a role; rather he was holed up as a dili- gent apprentice at a cobbler’s studio in Florence, Italy. His mentor? Master shoemaker Stefano Bemer, who passed away in July. Bemer handcrafted bespoke men’s shoes with waxed, handwoven flat laces; used calf or exotic leathers like crocodile, stingray, sharkskin or ostrich; and sent the finished work of art to his clients in a monogrammed wooden box. Throughout his life, the shoe- maker taught other celebrities like Andy Garcia and designer Gianfranco Ferré the art of measuring, cutting, stitching and constructing bespoke men’s shoes. But it was Day-Lewis who showed up at 8 a.m. daily for almost a year, and reportedly became disturbed when a stitch wasn’t exactly right. Day-Lewis, also an avid woodworker, may very well have an eye for craftsman- ship, but chances are Bemer helped fuel his passion for shoemaking. Not only do they protect our feet but they add style to our individual creative fashion looks in our daily fashion looks. Christian Louboutin says, “Shoes transform your body language and attitude. They fit you physically and emotionally.” You can never go wrong with any kind of shoe you wear because they are designed not only to comfort you but to give you style in you life. In the the 1990’s there were many different shoes that were worn and one shoe in particular that I will be focusing on throughout my paper is the Platform shoes. My research journal article will consist of the history of platform shoes in the 1900’s such as who wore this kind of shoe back then and what styles and materials were used during that time period. I have researched the history of the shoe so far as how and when the platform shoes came about during the 1900’s. I have learned that these particular shoes were invented many, many years ago but they didn’t start coming out with different styles, materials and things like that until the 1900’s. The platform shoe has evolved so much from when it was invented until this current day. But I won’t be focusing on these shoes long ago or currently throughout this paper, I will be specifically focusing on the platform shoes in the time period of the 1900’s when fashion was at its finest. -
