Prayer List Communion Service on Monday at 8:45 A.M Our Lady of La Salette Parish Our Mission Statement We, the Roman Catholic Family of Our Lady of La Salee, have the living and welcoming presence of Jesus Christ as the center of our life, especially in the Eucharist. Through worship, the proclamaon of the Gospel, service, and the work of the New Evangelizaon, we connue the reconciling ministry of Jesus Christ. This is a time for our parishes and communities to do what we do best: Rise Up. In southeast Michigan, we are no strangers to challenges, and we, with the grace and love of God, have always been resilient, rising from the ashes and overcoming these trials. Over the past year, even amidst trial, we haven’t stopped working to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, or equip individuals to know the love of God.This pandemic has not stopped us from sharing the Gospel! But this mission isn’t something we can do alone. Your generosity to the CǑǤǘǟǜǙǓ SǕǢǦǙǓǕǣ AǠǠǕǑǜ makes all these efforts possible. It brings the archdiocesan livestreamed Mass to those who can’t attend, powers our Christian Service programs and outreach, helps us learn how to better share Jesus in our diverse and multicultural Detroit community, and helps individuals and families grow closer to God even while physically distanced. Your gifts to the CSA does all this, and so much more. Jesus told his disciples, “Rise up, and be not afraid.” Now it is our turn to answer the call, to rise up and be united in the mission of Christ. The La Salette News, Berkley Page 3 Our Prayerful Presence Must Continue ... The 2020 Fall Campaign of 40 Days for Life runs from September 23 to November 1. For several years, our parish has covered the four hours from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on each of the six Saturdays during each campaign. We pray in front of the Planned Parenthood in Ferndale, on Woodward Ave. between 9 and 10 Mile Roads. The Saturdays during the 2020 campaign are September 26 and October 4, 11, 18 and 25. Prayer tools will be provided to all prayer warriors. The Rosary is a very powerful prayer as well. Due to Covid-19, I will not be conducting signups in church. Please call me at my home (248) 398-1815 and let me know the date/dates and hour you are able to pray. We all know what a difficult year this has been, so it comes as no surprise to realize that during the pandemic, Planned Parenthood continues to be open and babies continue to be aborted. Please help us save babies and change hearts by coming out to pray. I hope to hear from you. Denise Tietze On the first Sunday of the Season of Creaon last week, the scriptures called us to accept our prophec responsibility in love to invite each other to conversion and care for creaon in these mes of ecological crisis. The readings today remind us not to let our prophec call to others turn into anger or vengeance against them. If we do not forgive each other, we cannot expect God to forgive us. We are invited to reflect with gratude on all the failings, sins, and abuse of creaon that God has forgiven us and is now calling us to confront, heal and transform. The call to be prophec, yet paent, non-judgmental and forgiving with each other if we hope God to forgive us extends to all the dimensions of the “integral ecological conversion” which Pope Francis idenfies as the prophec word of God to our world at this me: the interconnected environmental, economic, and social dimensions. Could anyone refuse mercy to another like himself, can he seek pardon for his own sins? If one who is but flesh cherishes wrath, who will forgive his sins? Remember your last days, set enmity aside; remember death and decay, and cease from sin! Think of the commandments, hate not your neighbor; remember the Most High’s covenant, and overlook faults.

    Novena to Our Lady of La Salette, Reconciler of Sinners What is a novena? A novena is a prayer tradition that ties back to the time the apostles and Mary spent praying together between Jesus’s ascension into heaven and Pentecost. It is a set of reflections intended to be said over nine successive days. Novenas can be prayed in a group or in private. All that’s needed is a sincere heart as you pray for the intentions of the novena. First day of novena – Welcome Scripture says: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” (Matthew 11:28, 30) Mary said: “Come near, my children.” Meditation: What a wonderful invitation! In all simplicity Mary at La Salette calls the two children to come near. Her words echo her son’s invitation to come to him that we may find rest from our burdens and refreshment for our spirits. This, too, is Mary’s desire: that her children – meaning us as well – should feel welcomed and loved. Mary wishes us to come nearer to God who desires only good for us. We must approach and listen to her words, spoken with the love and concern of Jesus. She and her son wish that during this La Salette novena, we may “have life and have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10b) This special time of prayer can help us experience the welcoming presence of Mary and her loving son.
