The County Council of Somerset Somerset County Council (Various Roads, North Petherton) (Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2019 (North Petherton Carnival) Notice is hereby given that Somerset County Council intends to make an Order in pursuance of the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to introduce temporary traffic restrictions as specified in the Schedules to the Order. The Order will be made to facilitate the North Petherton Carnival and is in the interest of public safety. This Order shall come into effect on the 29th day of October 2019 and shall remain in force for eighteen months. The restrictions shall apply when indicated by traffic signs and staffed (where required) and will remain in force only for as long as is necessary. This Order shall come into operation from 1400 hours on 8th November 2019 and will continue in force until 2359 on 9th November 2019 (the times the various restrictions will apply are specified in the schedules to this Order) Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles, residents requiring access and egress and any vehicles associated with the event. A copy of the draft Traffic Regulation Order and the associated plans can be examined at www.somerset.gov.uk/TRO. Huntworth Business Park Road, From its junction A38 Huntsworth Roundabout Bridgwater for its entire length Somerset County Council (Various Roads, North Petherton) (Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2019 (North Petherton Carnival) The County of Somerset in exercise of their powers under Section 16 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, hereby makes the following Order: 1. This Order shall come into operation from 1400 hours on Friday 8th November 2019 to 2359 hours on Saturday 9th November 2019 (the times the various restrictions will apply are specified in the schedules to this Order). 2. Save as provided in Article 3 of this Order no person shall: (i) cause or permit any vehicle to proceed along the lengths of road specified in schedules 1, 2 and 3 to this Order. (ii) except upon the direction or with the permission of a Police Officer in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer or a Police Community Support Officer, cause or permit any vehicle to wait on the sides of road or in the lengths of road specified in schedules 1 and 4 to this Notice. 3. Nothing in the Order shall apply to: a. any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes or any vehicle being used in connection with the North Petherton Carnival with the authority of the Carnival Committee or Avon and Somerset Constabulary. b. anything done with the permission or at the direction of a Police Officer in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer or a Police Community Support Officer c. Vehicles falling within regulation 3(1), 3(2), 3(3) and 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011(a) when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations This Order may be cited as the “Somerset County Council (Various Roads, North Petherton) (Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2018 (North Petherton Carnival)”.     Inspiring change for Important Invertebrate Areas in the UK Invertebrate Survey of the A30 and A38 road verges in Area 1 (Cornwall and Devon) 11th September 2014 Susan Thompson - Grants & Trusts Officer Steven Falk Mark Tunmore Saving the small things that run the planet October 2015 1 Executive summary Between late May and late August 2015, Buglife Services carried out an invertebrate survey of the A30 and A38 in Devon and Cornwall. 41 visits to 23 sample points were undertaken on the A30 and 25 visits to 18 sampling points were undertaken on the A38, and a range of invertebrate groups were targeted. 866 taxa were recorded, the list being dominated by flies (361), beetles (177), butterflies & moths (109), bugs (82), bees, ants & aculeate wasps (53), spiders & harvestmen (50), grasshoppers & crickets (11) and dragonflies & damselflies (11). Pitfall trapping (not permitted) would have extended the beetle and bug lists greatly. The list included a number of rare and scarce species (notably the tachinid fly Policheta unicolor and lygaeid bug Trapezonotus ullrichi) and seemingly the first SW England record for the Southern oak bush-cricket (Meconema meridionalis) which is a recent British colonist. The list reveals the tremendous variety of life cycle strategies and other ecological relationships associated with road verge invertebrates. Pollinators are very well represented within the species list. The list and sample sizes reveal the strong influence of surrounding habitat, geographic location, altitude and underlying geology/ground conditions. There is a discernible ‘Bodmin Moor effect’ (decreased abundance and diversity of thermophilic invertebrates with altitude) and a strong ‘Dartmoor effect’ (increased abundance and diversity of thermophilic invertebrates on the A38 east of Dartmoor).
