Broker comments: his yacht was developed as a fast day/weekend cruiser to be sailed by the family, but with the ability to be raced in coastal races with a full crew. The deck layout reflects this with primary sail controls located within easy distance of the helm position and grinder pedestals providing plenty of centralized horsepower for sheeting. An electric winch is to hoisting the mainsail; retractable bow prod allows downwind sailing with asymmetric spinnakers. Also, her hydraulic lifting keel, the anchor capstan and all engine controls are operated from the helm position. The carbon rig was built with similar dimensions to a Volvo 60 race yacht to allow the use of second-hand testing sails from syndicate inventories. Her structure, engineered by High Modulus (NZ) Ltd. proves in excess of the requirements of the American Bureau of Shipping Guide for Building and Classing Offshore Racing Yachts 1994 so, while the design brief called for a daysailer, this yacht is fully offshore capable. Designed to turn heads wherever she sails, a 4.5m retractable prod and large asymmetric kites provide some awesome downwind thrills!
