Placement Brochure Page 1 About Us With a view to produce skilled technicians and supervisors and to bolster the job opportunities among the downtrodden sections of the society in the Gomati District in particular and in the State in General, Gomati District Polytechnic, Fulkumari, Udaipur was established in 2013. This Institute, presently offering Diploma in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science & Technology. All the disciplines are approved by All India Council For Technical Education, New Delhi. The Institute is administered by Education (Higher) Department , Government of Tripura and is affiliated to the Tripura University (A Central University). Since inception, this Institute has been able to establish its name in academic achievements as the premier centre of higher education in this District. Currently there are three Academic departments of intake 60 in each department: 1. Civil Engineering(CE), 2. Computer Science and Technology(CST), 3. Electrical Engineering(EE). This Institute, presently offering Diploma in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science & Technology and inching forward to infrastructural and academic excellence. All the 3(three) courses with intake capacity 60(sixty) in each discipline are approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. This Institute is Under the Administrative control of Education (Higher) Department, Government of Tripura and affiliated to Tripura University (A central University). We are committed to produce quality Engineers ready to take on the emerging global village with innovation in thinking and creativeness. In the years to come, this Polytechnic Institute should emerge as a vibrant Institute along with an identity in Engineering expertise. The rising demand of students applying for entry to Gomati District Polytechnic as well as to meet the future requirement, the State Government has come up with a massive project proposal for infrastructure development. Placement Brochure Page 8 Laboratory Facilities Civil Engineering This department is equipped with laboratory manuals and sophisticated equipment like Autolevel, Theodolite, Prismatic Compass for carrying out Field Surveying. The department has a laboratory facility for conducting Quantity Surveying practical classes which makes the students of the department skilful in different estimation and costing works. The department is also well equipped with AutoCAD laboratory facility which supports the students in the line of course content. The Civil Engineering department has a full-fledged Drawing Hall for the students’ hands on drawing practice. The Department of CST emphasizes on usage of open source software. Industrial training of minimum two week length is compulsory according to the Course Curriculum. These Training programmes are useful to bridge the gap between Academics and Industrial requirements. Apart from Industrial Training, Student also undergoes for Field Visit tour to enhance their practical skill in the respective field. Apart from this, the cell also interacts with the persons of other Institute for conduction of mass campus drive. Institute has signed a Mou with the ICT Academy (AICTE recognized) for the Placement of the students. According to the Mou, students are also trained to enhance their skill related to the employability. As per the accepted design, the study was conducted on the basis of primary and secondary level data. Tripura is the smallest State of the North Eastern region and about 70 per cent of its land is covered with the hills and forests. There are 8 administrative districts in Tripura and for the present study, only 2 Jhum-dominated districts, namely, Dhalai and Gomati districts (Ref. Basic Statistics of Tripura-2014, Government of Tripura) were selected purposively. In the next stage, two Blocks from each of the districts were selected on random basis, which included Ambassa and Salema Blocks in Dhalai district and Matabari and Killa Blocks in Gomati district. From each block, 20 samples of Jhum and piggery, 20 samples of settled agriculture and horticulture and 20 samples of piggery and settled agriculture were drawn randomly.
