FIVB World Volley News No. 37 March 2009 5 Technical World Volley News FIVB to distribute technical evaluation DVDs of 2006 World Championships The FIVB is to release a technical evalu- ation of the FIVB 2006 World Champi- onships on DVD and its website.

This technical and tactical analysis of the men’s and women’s tournaments played in Japan is meant for officials, coaches, players and Volleyball fans worldwide. The DVD is to be distributed to all Nation- al Federations.

Coaches’ tactics and players’ techniques are showcased in 300 carefully selected video clips. The video shows “real time” execution of technical-tactical perform- ances of the world’s best players and teams.

The viewer is able to appreciate individual playing styles and the variability of tech- niques through their function-specific roles: setter, receiver-attacker, blocker- quick attacker, diagonal player and libero.

Viewers can also observe the multi-facet- ed individual, group and team tactics in typical phases and situations of the game, including side out (reception, set, attack) and transition (service, block, defence, set, attack).

The video is part of a vision to assess the modern development of Volleyball by means of video analysis of the most im- portant FIVB competitions.

In addition to the 2006 FIVB World Cham- pionships, technical evaluations of the 2005 FIVB World League, 2005 FIVB World Grand Prix, 2007 FIVB World Cup and 2008 Olympic Games are accessible on the FIVB website.
