Intramural Sports at Humber Valley Village Our students are actively involved in a wide variety of intramural sports throughout the school year. We offer intramural programs for all students in grades 1 to 8 that include basketball, floor hockey, slo-pitch, soccer, dodgeball and volleyball. These programs are successfully run jointly by students and staff.

Interschool Sports at Humber Valley Village Many of our students participate in interschool cross country running and track and field events. We also have interschool teams for a wide variety of sports, including basketball, ice hockey, slo-pitch, soccer and volleyball. Many conference and city championship banners are proudly displayed in our two gymnasiums.

Information Computer Technology At HVV we are fortunate to have two stationary computer labs and a mobile MAC lab to enhance the computer literacy skills of our students. We are also integrating the use of digital cameras, scanners and projection devices into our curriculum. In addition, we use three stationary SMART boards to further enrich our ICT learning.

Student Leadership at HVV There are many opportunities for student leadership at HVV. Students at HVV are fully invested in making our school the wonderful place of learning that it is. There are so many opportunities for students to become involved in the life of our school. There are extracurricular arts experiences, intramural sports, interschool sports, academic and interest clubs and student leadership roles. The development and promotion of social and ecological responsibility are important aspects of our school culture. Students often take the lead in promoting and organizing events such as local food drives, bake sales for United Way and Unicef, toiletry drives for WomenAide, Helping Hands coin drive to raise funds for a playground for Subuiga Primary School in Kenya. As a school we also participate in The Terry Fox Run, Jump Rope For Heart, used book drives, new toy drives and gently used winter clothing and sporting equipment drives. Our student Eco Club is responsible for spearheading our efforts to reduce energy consumption through their lights out and monitors off campaigns, our waste monitoring and reduction efforts, our recycling program, community clean-up campaigns and our walk to school and litterless lunches.

At HVV we have a very active School Council and a large number of parent committees that support the educational, physical and social development of our students. Many parent volunteers assist in reading programs, remedial work, the library, computer labs, fundraising, excursions, environmental projects, coaching and supervising extracurricular sports and clubs. We host a large number of teacher candidates from many educational institutions such as York University, Ryerson, Humber College, Canisius College, Charles Sturt University, UOIT and OISE in addition to co-op secondary school students. We have forged community partnerships with the St. George's Golf Club, WomenAide, The Yonge Street Mission, our sister school, The United Way, Goodwill and Free the Children.
