They assume you will have a fully equipped backpack with you at the time you'll need it. But we know that Murphy's Law says - "not bloody likely". Taromovies was the first video that I came across that dealt with what a real survival scenario would be like - having only a few items in your pockets when something happens. So you'd better have the most useful items in your pockets and you'd better know how to use them most effectively. This is a smart technique everyone should know. ...And can keep you alive in the dead of winter. Mylar Space Blanket - Large (2) Tape (Duct Tape) First Aid Kit Key Candles (4) Matches / Lighter Small Knife / Cutting Tool It's quite simple. You want to make a poncho out of the space blankets. Use the tape and outline a head sized hole in the center of one of the space blankets. Cut the head sized hole on the tape. The tape will prevent tearing as Mylar space blankets tear very easily. Don't cut out completely, leave cut material as a flap for the back of your neck. Put the space blanket over your head. Wrap the other space blanket around you and form a hood over your head. Add tape to wherever you need to in order to keep things in place. You have just made yourself a space blanket poncho. Sit on a log or edge of something and get comfortable - you may be there for a while. Light the tea candle, spread your feet apart (under your poncho) and place the tea candle between your feet. Make It Out Alive Page 9 of 19 Make sure you have enough space around the tea candle not to ignite your pant legs. The tea candle will heat the air under the poncho you're wearing and create a micro- climate. Like any other poncho, you have a hood BUT your face is NOT covered by the poncho. You need to breathe fresh air. That is Taromovies' technique. And it kept a temperature of 70 degrees F or more, even in very cold winter temperatures.
