Buying Guide Shopping for Equipment KITCHEN EQUIPMENT BUYING GUIDE Shopping For Equipment With a well-stocked kitchen, you’ll be able to take on any recipe. But there’s so much equipment out there on the mar- ket, how do you figure out what’s what? Price often correlates with design, not performance. Over the years, our test kitchen has evaluated thousands of products. We’ve gone through copious rounds of testing and have identified the most important attributes in every piece of equipment, so when you go shopping you’ll know what to look for. And because our test kitchen accepts no support from product manufacturers, you can trust our ratings. Prices in this chart are based on shopping at online retailers and will vary. See AmericasTestKitchen.com for updates to these testings. Bowie was my pick of the three for all-round B Y S te V E N D I C K usefulness. While practically every Central and South American country has its own machete industry, there are a small number of brands that seem to be universally popular south of the Rio Grande. Tramontina from Brazil, Colima from Guatemala, and Imacasa from El Salvador are three of the big names. WI particularly remember one trip to Costa Rica when I asked some of the locals about the Larsson machetes made in that country. I was quickly told that they considered the Imacasa products far superior to their own local brand. Finding Imacasa knives and machetes has been kind of a hit and miss proposition in the U.S. I have the impression that the big hardware distrib- utors tend to go with the low bidder each time they place a large machete order. As a result, you never know what brand you will find in the local retailer from month to month. In the case of Imacasa, that may be changing. A new company, Condor Tool and Knife, is now importing a wide variety of blades and tools from El Salvador.

A Guide to Switchblades, Dirks and Daggers Second Edition December, 2015 How to tell if a knife is “illegal.” An analysis of current California knife laws. By: This article is available online at: http://bit.ly/knifeguide I. Introduction California has a variety of criminal laws designed to restrict the possession of knives. This guide has two goals: • Explain the current California knife laws using plain language. • Help individuals identify whether a knife is or is not “illegal.” This information is presented as a brief synopsis of the law and not as legal advice. Use of the guide does not create a lawyer/client relationship. Laws are interpreted differently by enforcement officers, prosecuting attorneys, and judges. Dmitry Stadlin suggests that you consult legal counsel for guidance. Page 1 A Guide to Switchblades, Dirks and Daggers II. Table of Contents I. Opinion by Bergsman, Administrative Trademark Judge: Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. de C.V. (Applicant) seeks registration on the Principal Register of the term ARTESANO, in standard character form, for goods amended to read as “pre-packaged sliced bread,” in International Class 30.1 Applicant included a translation of the word ARTESANO as “craftsman.” 1 Serial No. 87408465 filed April 12, 2017, under Section 1(a) of the Trademark Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1051(a), based on Applicant’s claim of first use of its mark anywhere and in commerce as of August 31, 2015.
