Education System in Nepal Overview Initially, the light of Education in Nepal was introduced in 1853 B.S., with the establishment of the first school namely Durbar High school. As it was the ruling days of the autocratic Rana ruling regime, the school and education was only meant for the members of the ruling families and their courtiers. So, it could be said that the literacy rate that time was really miserable. However, after 2007 B.S., when the democracy entered in Nepal ending up the Rana’s ruling duration then the lights of education spread widely all over the country with awareness. Although, because of the conservative Nepalese society in the first step there were an ethic not to educate the Daughters (Girls) in the family with the negative reason of their migration after their marriage. But then only the son was given education making the literacy rate so unbalance. Later, lots program and movement were performed as for the awareness of Women empowerment in the World, Nepal too have to take action for educating Daughters (Girls) as well. Which directly increase the literacy rate of the country by 60.30% a bit lower compared to other developed countries. Education Systems The ministry of education Nepal holds the responsibility for the management, implementation and regulation of Education system throughout the country. It also helps in the proper utilization of Scholarships provided to the scholar student applying certain process as facilitated by Govt. of Nepal, Foreign aids etc. Every economic year Govt. of Nepal allocates or invests certain percentage of Budget for education. For instance, to say the education institution of the capital city Kathamndu is being the most desired place for most of the student from the villages of Nepal. As because of lack of infrastructure, qualified lecturer and management system in the remote areas, most of the students migrate to Kathmandu for getting higher level of education. In Nepal, there are mainly two type of educational institution running till this date i.e.: Government and Private. The institution funded by Government which is running as a non-profitable the fees for the student goes cheaper. The institution funded by individuals or groups for profit making purpose the fees goes expensive. Till this date Nepal have been adopting ways of theoretical knowledge mostly rather than practical knowledge. Which it seems little unpractical for the fast changing world. However, Nepal acquires certain phase for educating students through out the student’s study life. Those phases are mentioned below: Pre School Education: This education institution follows pre learning for students which includes Kindergarten, Montessori etc. The very modern learning ways fro student is introduced in Nepal since only few years. Previously children’s are not sent in such institution later it is realized the importance of pre learning and hence being very popular these days. Children’s from age 3 yrs to 5 yrs are cleared their pre learning school. This system of educating service is only provided by Private levels which are quite expensive for the parents. School Education: This education system is a subject based institute which prepares student for attempting higher level education. This is a formal school education which spans almost 12 years of the student’s studying life. This system simplifies the process of attending education institution by dividing the primary classes from Grade 1 to 10. After the completion of grade 10 which is also called School Leaving Certificate (S.L.C) in Nepal, students are prepared to graduate higher Secondary Level (10+2). Higher Secondary level is considered to be the students preparing for approaching University i.e. Bachelors and Degree Program. We could find lots private and Govt. institution for primary schools in Nepal. At the age of 19 students got their graduation certificate in this process. Higher Education: This education system includes the programs as Bachelor’s/Undergraduate Level, Master's Level/Graduate/Degree Level ,Post Graduate, M. Phil. Level, Ph.D. Doctoral Level which is the most standard and profession based education system. The educational institute should be affiliated under the Tribhuwan University of Nepal and could be run as private as well as Government levels. While very minimum students attempt this level of education in Nepal. Banjhkateri Education Status As being a remote village, the education status of Banjhkateri is average in the context. Lack of infrastructure really disappoint private sector to invest in, only Govt. level education institute are in existence till this date. Banjhkateri have the education access only from primary level to 10+2 graduation level. The local people are aware of the fact about educating children but because of the existing problems they are quite unable to meet the requirement of Education. There and the problems are listed as: Geographical status of Banjhkateri being the first and most problems for educating children. As the schools being far from the resident area children finds it difficult to attempt the schools in everyday life. Some students are attending schools even after an hour long travel on foot to reach the school. Lack of friendly and well equipped classroom is also the main problem in schools of Banjhkateri. The desk and benches of the classes are not well furnished as well the surroundings atmosphere is not so familiar to sit and study for the children. The concentration distract during the session. Lack of qualified and subject wise lecturer. Banjhkateri’s schools are lacking subject wise teachers in the classroom. Sometimes unqualified teachers are teaching students out of their knowledge. This is really a major problem for this area. Stationery, the main weapons of the students including books and copies for making notes are also being lacking in the periphery. As the market being so far to have it, students are helpless in this case. Methods of learning, the conservative method of learning are really making students less competitive with the students compared to the town. Extra activities as a process of learning, students are less participating in extra activities as their hobby. The lack of these activities is making dull and idol from creativity. In this case sport equipment should be made available to them. Health, for sound mind, students is lacking sound health as the nurture of family becomes unbalanced. The parents being unaware for vaccination from time to time, health camps are supposed to be programmed focused on eye and teeth. Training for the teachers in school, as the teachers in village being less familiar with the teaching method according to the mental and physical growth of the student. Proper discipline of teaching method is suggested. Introducing Educational tools as like: Laboratory equipments, Computers in the schools. These learning materials would be really helpful if provided for the students in global world. .
