Hawks Compete at Southern California Regional Championships May 5, 2008 Hawks Compete at Southern California Regional Championships San Jacinto, CA - Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) and freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) represented the Santiago Canyon College men's golf team at the Southern California Regional Championships Monday afternoon at the par-72 Country Club at Soboba Springs. SCC sophomore Gavin Foster at the Foster finished the 36-hole competition in a tie for 18th place with a total score 2008 Southern California Regional of 148 (78-70). Hall shot a two-round total of 153 (73-80) to finish in a three- Championships. way tie for 43rd place. John San Juan of Cypress College earned medalist honors with a low score of 140 (69-71). The top four teams in the tournament qualify to play in the state championship round, while the top six individual scores not from those teams also qualify to advance. Moorpark College took home first place team honors with a total score of 735, followed by College of the Canyons, Cypress College and Saddleback College all with a score of 741. April 28, 2008 Foster Earns Co-Medalist Honors at Orange Empire Conference Championships Chino Hills, CA -Three members of the Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team competed in the 2008 Orange Empire Conference Men's Golf Championships Monday at Los Serranos Golf Club. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) shot a 36-hole total of 138 to earn co- SCC sophomores Austin Glenn (left) medalist honors and advance to the Southern California Regional Championships and Gavin Foster at the Orange Empire next week at Soboba Springs Golf Club in San Jacinto. Foster finished with a 4- Conference Championships at Los under-par 68 on the North Course and a 2-under-par 70 on the South Course. Serranos Golf Club. Freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) also earned a trip to the regionals as he birdied the first hole of a sudden death playoff to defeat Aaron Levine from Irvine Valley College. Hall finished his day with a 2-over-par 146 (73-73). Sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) shot a solid round of 148 (75-73) in his final match for the Hawks (4-12 OEC). Saddleback College shot a total team round of 717 to take team honors, followed by Cypress College at 722 and Santa Ana College at 731. Overall, Saddleback won conference play with a record of 15-5. Raj Samra of Cypress was named co-medalist as he matched Foster with a 138 (70-68). April 14, 2008 SCC Men's Golf Drops Conference Match to Palomar 362-394 San Marcos, CA -The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team dropped an Orange Empire Conference match to host Palomar College 362-394 Monday afternoon at the par-72 Twin Oaks Golf Course. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) and freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) each finished with a 3-over-par 75 to lead the Hawks (4-11 OEC). Sophomores Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) and Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) each finished with an 81, while freshman Curtis Arbarca (El Dorado HS) chipped in with an 84. Other team scores included Irvine Valley College at 389 and Riverside Community College at 426. In conference play, the host team is the only squad to compete head-to-head with other teams. April 9, 2008 SCC Narrowly Drops OEC Contest to Santa Ana 364-365 Chino Hills, CA -The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team shot its best team round of the season but it wasn't enough as host Santa Ana College came away with the 364-365 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) victory at the par-72 Los Serranos Golf Course. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) finished with six birdies to shoot his lowest round of the season at 4-under-par 68 to lead SCC. Sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) and Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) each shot a 1-over-par 73 to chip in for the Hawks, while sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) finished at 75 (+3). Freshman Curtis Arbarca (El Dorado HS) and Kevin Harter (El Dorado HS) each shot a 76 (+4) to round out the scoring. Trevor Jones shot a 9-under-par 63 to lead Santa Ana to victory. Cypress College shot a 361 to defeat the Dons, while Orange Coast College shot a 370. In conference play, the host team is the only squad to compete head-to-head with other teams. April 7, 2008 Hawks Downed by Orange Empire Conference Rivals Chino, CA -The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team fell to 4-9 in the Orange Empire Conference with losses to Saddleback College, Orange Coast College and Cuyamaca College Monday afternoon at the par-72 El Prado Golf Course. Saddleback and Orange Coast shot a team round of 368, followed by Cuyamaca at 373 and SCC at 376. SCC hosted the match and was the only team to compete head-to-head with other teams. Tony Lee of Orange Coast earned medalist honors with a 4-under-par 68. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) led the Hawks with a 2-under-par round of 70 as he finished his day with three birdies and only one bogey. Sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) finished with a 2-over-par 74 to shoot his best round of the season to date. Other scores for SCC included freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) at 75 (+3), sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) at 77 (+5) and freshman Curtis Arbarca (El Dorado HS) with an 80 (+8). March 31, 2008 SCC Men's Golf Falls to Cypress in OEC Match Cypress, CA -The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team lost an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) match to host Cypress College 366-389 Monday afternoon at the par-72 Navy Golf Course facility. The Chargers also defeated Irvine Valley College (381) and Riverside Community College (417) to pick up three conference victories. In conference play, the host team is the only squad to compete head-to-head with other teams. Sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) and freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) led the Hawks (4-6 OEC) as they both shot a 3-over-par round of 75. Hall finished his day with an eagle on the par-5 18th hole. Other scores for SCC included sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) with a 77, freshman Kevin Harter (El Dorado HS) with an 80 and freshman Curtis Arbarca (El Dorado HS) with an 82. March 26, 2008 Hawks Drop Conference Match to Saddleback Rancho Santa Margarita, CA -The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team dropped an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) match to host Saddleback College 375-397 Wednesday afternoon at the par-72 Tijeras Creek Golf Club. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) finished with three birdies on the afternoon to finish with a 3-over-par 75 to lead SCC (4-5 OEC). Freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) finished with an eagle on the first hole to shoot a 4-over-par 76. Other scores for SCC included sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) with an 81 and freshman Curtis Arbarca (El Dorado HS) with an 82, while sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) and freshman Kevin Harter (El Dorado HS) each shot an 83. Saddleback also picked up victories over Orange Coast College (385) and Riverside College (420). In conference play, the host team is the only squad to compete head-to-head with other teams. March 19, 2008 Hawks Finish Second at Rio Hondo Classic Rosemead, CA -The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team finished in second place with a team score of 548 in the 27-hole Rio Hondo Classic Wednesday afternoon at Whittier Narrows Golf Course. Sophomores Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) and Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) earned medalist honors with a 3-under-par round of 104 to lead the Hawks. Foster finished his round with seven birdies, while Glenn collected three birdies and an eagle. Other scores for SCC included freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) at 110, sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) at 113 and freshman Kevin Harter (El Dorado HS) at 117. Ventura College finished in first place with a team score of 542, while Rio Hondo shot a 566, Glendale College shot a 580 and Irvine Valley College shot a 586. Troy Davis of Irvine Valley also shot a 104 to earn medalist honors. March 17, 2008 SCC Finishes 10th at Canyons Invitational Oxnard, CA -The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) mens' golf team shot a total team round of 396 to finish in 10th place out of 16 teams at the 2008 Canyons Invitational held at the par-72 River Ridge Golf Club. Sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) led the Hawks with an even-par round of 72 as he finished in the top eight in the 96 player field. Glenn's round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 11th hole. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) and freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) each finished with a 5-over-par 77 for SCC, while freshman Kevin Harter (El Dorado HS) shot an 84 and sophomore Mike Mahi (Orange HS) chipped in with an 86. Bakersfield College won the tournament with a team score of 369. March 12, 2008 Hawks Drop Close Non-Conference Match to Rio Hondo 380-381 Chino, CA -The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) mens' golf team dropped a close non-conference match to Rio Hondo College 380-381 Wednesday afternoon at the par-72 El Prado Golf Course.

    Santiago Canyon College Men’s Basketball Newsletter Date: 1/15/18 – 1/21/18 Volume 1 Issue 10 This past week was an exciting one in the Orange Empire Conference. The league is as tight as possible from top to bottom. We had two great games against Saddleback College and Fullerton College. The Wednesday game was at Saddleback and went down to the wire as we lost by 2 points. On Friday, we turned it around and beat Fullerton at home by one point. We hung on to the victory after leading by 13 in the second half. We have been battling through some injuries and sickness. We are looking forward to getting back to full strength in about a week, but we have two tough games this week with Santa Ana and Riverside City College. The group has been meeting almost twice Time Capsule Installation weekly since the beginning of the semester to build upon focus group-based research we commissioned to help identify user group navigational preferences. Board Update In the meantime, the college researched and identified WordPress as the content management software system (CMS) we will use for our new site. Dagu Performance The current task force is composed of faculty members identified by the Academic Senate, classified representatives and members of the management/confidential group. Their task is to move the project forward and to enter the design stage. State of the College Teresa Dreyfuss They have established a hierarchy for the new Rio Hondo College website and City Council Presentation wireframe designs for successive landing pages, and are now interviewing design consultants who will create the ‘look and feel’ of the site and develop templates for campus-wide use. Under the revised provisions of the Brown Act and the Bagley-Keenan Act, the Board meeting will be conducted remotely. The Board President will convene the meeting at 4:00 pm in the Board Room on the first floor of the Administration Building at the El Camino College Campus. Remaining members of the Board may participate via telephone or Zoom. The public may participate in Public Comment via email. There is an email account set up for Public Comments for Closed Session Items, and an email account set up for Public Comments for Open Session Items. Full information regarding the technical aspects of the Board Meeting can be found in the Board Docs site. The Board meeting will begin at 4:00 pm. Dr. Viviana Unda, Director of Institutional Research and Planning, will provide a brief informational presentation on the 2020-23 Strategic Plan Implementation and Monitoring. Following that, Ms. Edith Gutierrez, Director of EOPS/CARE/CalWorks/Guardian Scholars will provide an informational presentation on the El Camino College EOPS program, which is the sixth largest EOPS program in the state of California.
