Information Brochure 2020-21 Information Brochure 2020-21 Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Institute of Technology Tanakpur (Uttarakhand) ( A Constituent Institute of Uttarkhand Technical University, Dehradun, Govt. of Uttarakhand) About Institute Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Institute of Technology, Tanakpur is one of the constituent institutes of UTU, Dehradun, established in 2016 by the Govt. of Uttarakhand to promote the technical education. The institute provides undergraduate education in two disciplines i.e., Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering intake of 60 in each branch. The vision of the institute is to produce a world class Technocrats and entrepreneurs for the benefit and upliftment of the society. Tanakpur is a town and a municipal board in Champawat district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Known in the northern part of India as the gateway for the Purnagiri Temple (around 30 km from here), Tanakpur is a calm and small town located on riverside of Sharda River. It acts as a junction for the Kumaon District’s mountainous part. It is also the first point in the Kailash Manasarovar Pilgrimage. Gradually benefitting from the nationwide progress, Tanakpur is growing steadily into a buzzing town. A network of stronger, safer, all weather roads is being built, in the State over the past four years. Till 2014, the length of National Highways was 2,509 km. In 2018, NH length has reached 3,492 km. The completion of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Delhi Saharanpur Highway will result in greater savings in time, cost and fuel for Uttarakhand bound vehicles. Over Rs. 5,000 Cr will be invested to build 983 km of new National Highways. Work is in progress on 66 projects worth Rs. 12,300 Cr, spanning a length of 800 km. Under Chardham programme, 37 projects of 633 km length, worth a total cost of Rs. 8,500 Cr have been sanctioned. Out of these 23 projects of 385 km length worth Rs. 4,100 Cr are ongoing and the remaining ones are at tender/award stage. A total of Rs. 30,000 Cr worth investments will be made towards road development in the State. “When a network of good roads is created, the economy of the country also picks up pace.
