To seek the approval of the Cabinet for responses to Local Development Framework (LDF) consultation documents issued by Oadby and Wigston Borough Council. Recommendation 2. It is recommended that : (a) the comments set out in Appendices 1, 2 and 3 to the report be submitted to Oadby and Wigston Borough Council as the views of the County Council on the Oadby and Wigston LDF Core Strategy and Oadby and Wigston Town Centre Action Plans; (b) the omission of any reference in the Core Strategy as to how the proposed Pennbury Eco-town would help meet, or conflict with, the strategic objectives and policies in the Core Strategy be highlighted as an area of concern to the Borough Council; and (c) the Borough Council be particularly urged to reconsider its proposals in the Oadby Town Centre Area Action Plan so that a firm commitment be made to providing land for a dedicated place of worship at Sandhurst Street, Oadby, that proper account be taken of the plans and aspirations of the Oadby and Wigston Muslim Association which is acquiring property in this area for community and religious purposes, and to take further account of the need in Oadby for additional places of worship for other faith groups. 1 Reasons for Recommendation 3. Primary There are 14 Primary Schools in Oadby and Wigston Borough, 12 are Academies and 2 are LA Maintained. All primary schools are now 4-11 age range. Secondary and Post 16 There are 6 Secondary Schools in Oadby and Wigston Borough all of which are Academies. The Wigston Secondary Schools changed age range change from 2016/17 and the Oadby Secondary Schools changed age range from 2017/18. There are 3 establishments which provide post 16 Education in the Borough: Oadby Beauchamp College, Wigston College and South Leicestershire College. The idea of the atlas was the brainchild of Graham Finch, who had attended a ground beetle training course and became well aware of the need for a VC55 distribution atlas. In July 2009 a very simple first draft was produced. Derek Lott and Graham Finch scrutinized the first draft. A number of important issues needed consideration, such as taxonomic changes, the classification of sites, obtaining accurate grid references and the removal of invalid species records falsely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland. Derek Lott provided Carabidae context to some sites in the gazetteer as well as providing species context. The production of this atlas was made much easier by the life-long work of Derek Lott, who had already accumulated vast amounts of ground beetle data and local knowledge, without which this atlas would not have been possible. Special thanks go the Carabidae recorders who have sent in records. We have endeavoured to reference and acknowledge the people and sources that have helped in the production of this atlas but often with natural history publications there are too many people to thank over a very long period of time. Our apologies go to the people or sources that have been inadvertently omitted. The gazetteer obtained information from a number of sources, in particular the Flora of Leicestershire (Primavesi & Evans, 1988) and the Flora of Rutland (Messenger, 1971).
