1 SITREP NO-87 /2013 1700 hours No.32-20/2013-NDM-I Ministry of Home Affairs (Disaster Management Division) Dated 26 th August, 2013 Subject: SOUTHWEST MONSOON-2013: DAILY FLOOD SITUATION REPORT SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT EVENTS AS ON 26 .08.2013 RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY Rain/thundershowers has occurred at many places over west Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Marathawada, west coast, SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Assam & Meghalaya; at a few places over Uttarakhand, west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Gujarat region, Bihar, coastal Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, interior Karnataka, north Andhra Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and isolated places rest of the country outside Punjab, west Rajasthan and Saurashtra & Kutch where weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (3 cm or more) recorded at 0830 hours IST of today are: Silchar-9, Jalpaiguri-6, Lengpui and Shajapur-5 each, Sheopur and Delhi-4 each and Jaipur, Mahabaleshwar and Bhira-3 each. Indian Meteorological Department (Major features of weather forecast) ♦ Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places along west coast, over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, northeastern states and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. ♦ Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over Chhattisgarh and Odisha during next 24 hours and increase thereafter. ♦ Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over Madhya Pradesh, north Andhra Pradesh and Vidarbha during next 48 hours and increase thereafter. ♦ Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over rest parts of the country outside Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Marathawada where it would be isolated. CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION (daily water levels and forecasts for level forecast sites) There are 03 High and 25 Moderate flood situation sites in the country as on 26.08.2013. DEPLOYMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF) 42 teams of NDRF consisting of 1446 personnel have been deployed in Assam (5), West Bengal (8), Gujarat (2), Maharashtra (4), Punjab (1),Uttarakhand (7), Uttar Pradesh (4), Bihar (8), Karnataka(1), Delhi (1) and A.P (1). 2 INDIAN METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT (daily weather report) ♦ Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places along west coast, over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, northeastern states and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. ♦ Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over Chhattisgarh and Odisha during next 24 hours and increase thereafter. ♦ Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over Madhya Pradesh, north Andhra Pradesh and Vidarbha during next 48 hours and increase thereafter. ♦ Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over rest parts of the country outside Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Marathawada where it would be isolated. Warning 26 August: Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and east Uttar Pradesh. 27 August: Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and east Uttar Pradesh. 28 August: Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Telangana. Weather outlook for subsequent 4 days ♦ Rain/thundershower would occur at many places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and northeastern states. ♦ Rain/thundershower would occur at a few places over rest parts of the country outside Rajasthan, Gujarat and south Andhra Pradesh where it would be isolated. CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION (daily water levels and forecasts for level at forecast sites) According to the Central Water Commission (CWC) report dated 26th August, 2013, there are 01 High and 27 Moderate flood situation sites in the country. HIGH FLOOD SITUATION Bihar • River Ganga at Bhagalpur district Bhagalpur, Bihar is flowing at 33.98 m against the danger level of 33.68 m with Rising trend. • River Ganga at Ghazilpur district Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh is flowing at 64.74 m against the danger level of 63.11 m with Rising trend. • River Ganga at Ballia district Balliar, Uttar Pradesh is flowing at 59.87 m against the danger level of 57.62 m with Rising trend. MODERATE FLOOD SITUATION Assam & Meghalaya • River Dhansiri(S) at Numaligarh district Golaghat/Numaligarh, Assam is flowing at 77.54 m against the danger level of 77.42 m with Falling trend. 3 • River Katakhal at Matizuri, distt. Hailakandi, Assam is flowing at 20.73 m against the danger level of 20.27 m with Steady trend. DEPLOYMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF) ON 26 th August 2013 • 01 team consisting of 19 personnel of 1 Bn, NDRF deployed at Guwahati, Assam for training and emergency response. • 01 team consisting of 30 personnel of 1 Bn, NDRF deployed at Tinsukia (Assam) for emergency response during flood. • 01 team consisting of 28 personnel of 1 Bn, NDRF deployed at Dhemaji, Assam for flood Rescue, relief and emergency. • 01 team consisting of 25 personnel of 1 Bn, NDRF deployed at Sonitpur, Assam for flood rescue, relief and emergency. • 01 team consisting of 31 personnel of 1 Bn, NDRF deployed at Gohpur (Sonitpur), Assam due to flood like situation. • 01 team consisting of 32 personnel of 2 nd Bn, NDRF deployed at Malda (West Bengal) in connection with Monsoon deployment. • 01 team consisting of 34 personnel of 2 nd Bn, NDRF deployed at Mainaguri (West Bengal) in connection with prevailing flood situation in Tista River. • 01 team consisting of 36 personnel of 2 nd Bn NDRF deployed at Panskura Block, District- East Medinipur (West Bengal) in c/w prevailing flood situation. • 01 team consisting of 34 personnel of 2 nd Bn NDRF deployed at Dewra Block Kharagpur, District- West Medinipur (West Bengal) in c/w prevailing flood situation. • 01 team consisting of 35 personnel of 2 nd Bn NDRF deployed at Daspur-I Block, District- West Medinipur (West Bengal) in c/w prevailing flood situation. • 01 team consisting of 35 personnel of 2 nd Bn NDRF deployed at Rohini Block, District- West Medinipur (West Bengal) in c/w prevailing flood situation. • 01 team consisting of 35 personnel of 2 nd Bn NDRF deployed at Panskura Block, West Medinipur (West Bengal) in c/w prevailing flood situation.
