BOUNDARY BULLETIN the Official Matchday Programme of Oldham Athletic Football Club Free to Download BOUNDARY BULLETIN The official matchday programme of Oldham Athletic Football Club Free to Download Oldham Athletic vs. Colchester United Sky Bet League Two - Matchday 41 Friday 9th April 2021 - 7pm KO “There is always an extra buzz around KEITH CURLE the place on the back of a good win and that’s certainly been the case in our preparations for tonight’s fixture after the result on Bank Holiday Monday.” Geng three points is the most important thing in any game but to have achieved that at Crawley Town with a performance of such authority and confidence means there has been a real energy within the camp this week. From a coach’s point of view, it was very pleasing to see the players execute the ideas we have been working on over the course of the past month and every one of them deserves credit for the part they played in such a comprehensive win. Although we want to be a possession-based team, it is important there is a clear sense of direcon to our play and we have spent a lot of our me on the training ground trying to develop the right balance. Having started the game on Monday with the right intenons against a team we knew were on a difficult run of form, the lads kept their paence unl the breakthrough arrived and then displayed a ruthlessness in securing the result. The atude from the enre squad since I arrived has been first class and even though results have not always gone our way in recent weeks, they know the importance of taking on board the informaon we given to them and the value of keeping a posive mentality. We were all delighted to see Conor McAleny back on the scoresheet and the assurance he displayed in his finishing, parcularly for the first goal, was that of a quality goalscorer. We all know how important Conor is to our team, he has had a very good season and aer going close a number of mes in the game, his goals were reward for his perseverance. All the players have adapted to how we want them to play and no-one typifies that more than Davis Keillor-Dunn, who has connued to show his value in both creang goals and scoring them in recent games. Davis is one of several players who have now commied themselves for next season and having a core group already in place who are passionate about doing well can only benefit the club as it plans for next season. There may only be six games of the current campaign remaining but that’s why I have stressed to the squad that they all have something to play for. Tonight we welcome a Colchester United side who have found results difficult to come by lately and have made recent changes to their coaching staff with the appointments of Hayden Mullins and Paul Tisdale. Our last home game against Stevenage was very disappoinng and with only three more games to play at Boundary Park, we want to sign off in the best way possible. Despite the result on Monday, there are areas of our game that we must sll work on to improve. Our objecve has always been to develop a cohesive team unit which is capable of geng results in different circumstances and the remaining games provide us with the chance to test our connued progress in that regard. We were all pleased to put on the performance at Crawley for you at the end of the Bank Holiday and we will be looking to ensure you can enjoy the weekend ahead on the back of another posive result tonight. WWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to our Northern Premier League game against league leaders Warrington Town. We would like to extend a warm welcome to their players, officials and supporters along with the match officials and hope they enjoy their visit. It is the best part of a month since we shared the points with Morpeth in our last home game and a lot has happened since then. The disappointing FA Cup exit at Skelmersdale was followed by the frustration of our home game against Gainsborough having to be postponed the day before as a precaution following Covid concerns around the visitors. The pandemic continues to have a big impact on our league at the moment with three clubs currently not being able to play for a short period of time. I am sure all other clubs send them their best wishes whilst hoping it is a situation they can avoid themselves. However, the season has taken a turn for the better in the last week with our first win of the season coming in con- vincing fashion at Grantham last Saturday which was then followed up by a hard earned point at FC United in mid- week. Warrington have made another excellent start to the season and arrive at Giant Axe with a three point lead at the top of the table having won five and lost one of their seven games to date.
