The Charlottesville-Albemarle region has some of the best public schools in the state, with graduates each year continuing their education at Ivy League and top public and private universities. Average SAT scores at local public schools rank higher than state and national averages. Charlottesville and Albemarle also feature AP classes and a diverse curriculum, with courses ranging from Chinese and classical Greek to art history. More than 50 percent of teachers hold advanced degrees. Dual enrollment agreements with the University of and Piedmont Virginia Community College allow students to enroll in college courses for credit.
