REGULATION MEIA TIP 2017

The Demi Pointe occurs on three competitive afternoons, July 21, 22, and 23, in two sessions, with The Competitive Show occurs during eight nights, with selected choreographies in seven genres: classical repertoire, neoclassical ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, urban dances, popular dances, and tap dancing. The subgenres are: Solo, Duo, Variations, de Deux and Ensemble, according to each genre.

Note: The name "Demi pointe" is a fantasy name for the event. It is at the discretion of the schools the choice of having their students dance en demi pointe or en pointe during the presentations.

1. CATEGORY

The demi pointe is for groups and schools, and only the category below is allowed:

 Petite: born in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

REGULATION MEIA TIP 2017  ENSEMBLE Free choice among all the of repertoire.

Notes:  Choreographies of "Popular dances" that are part of a "Classical Ballet Repertoire" must be entered in the genre of Classical Ballet Repertoire and NOT in Popular Dances.  It is not allowed to present repertoire choreographies that do not correspond to the indications in the Regulation.

2.2 NEOCLASSICAL BALLET

 Solo and Ensemble In this genre, choreographies created using exclusively ballet steps can be entered. The use of "en pointe" is optional. In the event of a reassembly, item 4 of this Regulation on "copyright" must be observed.

2.3 CONTEMPORARY DANCE

SOLO AND ENSEMBLE - In this genre, copyright works that prioritize the research/creation of movements can be entered, following or not variants of Modern Dance schools (Graham, Limón, Cunningham etc.) and/or works of Dance-Theater, Butoh, Multimedia, etc.

2.4 POPULAR DANCES

SOLO, AND ENSEMBLE In this genre, all popular dances can be entered, such as: tango, samba, bolero, and forró; and also dances inspired by folklore, ethnic dances, an tap.

Note: Choreographies of "Popular dances" that are part of a "Classical Ballet Repertoire" must be entered in the genre of Classical Ballet Repertoire and NOT in Popular Dances.

2.5 URBAN DANCES

 SOLO AND ENSEMBLE Variant choreographies of hip hop, free style, popping, locking, funk, break, and others can be entered.

2.6 JAZZ

 SOLO AND ENSEMBLE In this genre, all lines of jazz and their involvements with musicals can be entered.

2.7 TAP

 SOLO AND ENSEMBLE In this genre all types of tap can be entered, except the tap shown in popular dances.

3. DURATION

For the Classical Ballet Repertoire Genre, the following times must be respected:

 Variation - there is no time limit.  Ensemble - MAXIMUM TIME of 5 (five) minutes, tolerance of 15 seconds

REGULATION MEIA TIP 2017 For the Neoclassical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Popular Dances, Urban Dances, Jazz, and Tap Genres, the following times must be respected:

 Solo - MAXIMUM TIME of 3 (three) minutes, tolerance of 9 seconds  Ensemble - MAXIMUM TIME of 5 (five) minutes, tolerance of 15 seconds

THE CHOREOGRAPHIES THAT EXCEED THE LIMITS ESTABLISHED WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

4. COPYRIGHT

 The group is the only legal responsible for release and rights of the choreography entered in the Festival, regardless of genre, subgenre, and category.  The groups with choreographies entered in the Classical Ballet Repertoire genre must carefully observe the chosen versions and release of copyright.

5. PARTICIPANTS

5.1 DANCERS

They are the participants who dance in the choreography.  A dancer is NOT allowed to register in more than one group.

5.2 SUPPORT STAFF

They are participants that give support to groups/schools during the event.  If needed, the Leader will be contacted by the organization of the festival to resolve matters pertaining to the group.  The following are considered support staff: Leader, technical support, and accompanying persons.

5.3 An extra Are members that complement the role of the groups, whose function, secondary and decorative in nature, is not of a dancer and that, therefore, does not interfere directly in the choreographic composition. The use of extras is allowed only in the Popular Dances and Classical Ballet Repertoire genres;

It is NOT allowed to act as an extra in more than one group; Limit of extras for choreography: up to 20% of the number of dancers entered in the choreography. Age limit: born until 2007; Must be registered in the cast of the choreography as "extra."

6. PRIZES

6.1 FIRST PLACE

Each group with choreography ranked first in the Demi Pointe will receive a trophy and a certificate. The trophy will be delivered on the Afternoon of Champions, day 07/24/2017 at 14 hours.  The award-winning groups who cannot dance in the afternoon of Champions must deliver a justification to the ARTISTIC ADVISORY of the event, up to 6 (six) hours after the disclosure of the result.  The groups with award-winning choreography (1st place), in the 2016 edition have the right to participate in the Competitive Show of 2017, in the same genre and subgenre.

Notes:  Groups that do not dance in the Afternoon of Champions lose their spot for the following year.

6.2 SECOND AND THIRD PLACE

Each choreography classified in second or third place of the Demi Pointe will receive a trophy and a certificate. The trophy must be retrieved the next day after 2 pm at the Participant Service desk to the at the Festival Secretary.

7. SPECIAL AWARDS

All participants of the Demi Pointe may be listed and receive the special awards as per the definition of the Artistic Curation.

8. . REGISTRATION

8.1 FIRST PLACE 2016 The groups with award-winning choreography in 1st place in the Demi Pointe held in 2016 and who wish to participate in the new edition, should make their registration in the Groups Area by selecting the option "1st Place Position" by 03/16/2017.

. Solo Positions: The 1st place in 2016 that returns in 2017, will be permitted to change category - Junior - Competitive Show, when the age (year of birth no longer corresponds to the category awarded. This position is of the soloist and the respective school in which he/she danced, not being allowed to use this position (neither by the school and nor by the soloist), if the soloist changes schools. This change of category is exclusive to the 1st place soloist, not extending to the other subgenres.

Attention: It is mandatory that the awarded groups of 2016 confirm their participation by 15/05/2017, and inform the detailed description of the scenery and scenic elements, as well as the technical needs for their proper installation. This information will be reviewed by the production of the Festival and will be approved or not. If the group does not pass on the information, they will be prevented from using such resources on the day of presentation. For Solos and Duos, the use of scenery bars will not be permitted.

8.2 REGISTRATION OF PARTICIPANT

It is mandatory to register all participants of the group (dancers and support staff) on the personal registration icon on the website of the Festival; All participants must have their own CPF and complete their registration using this number; For foreigners, registration is done with the passport number; The participants already registered should not create a new account, only update their data.

Attention: Remember that the falsification of documents is a crime provided for in Chapter III of the Decree-Law # 2.848/40 - Brazilian Penal Code (http://www.planalto.gov.br/ccivil_03/Decreto-Lei/Del2848.htm).

8.3 REGISTRATION OF THE GROUP

It should be done on the website of the Dance Festival, in the Groups Area (www.festivaldedanca.com.br); The groups who already have records from previous editions should update their information; Each school/academy may enter up to two (2) groups with different names, registered with the same CNPJ; Groups that do not have CNPJ must be entered with the CPF of the person responsible (Independent Group). The CPF will register only one group; After the selection changes of information will not be allowed in groups.

REGULATION MEIA TIP 2017 8.4 INCLUSION OF CHOREOGRAPHIES

The choreographies entered together must have at least 3 (three) and at most 45 (forty-five) dancers; Each group may enter up to 20 (twenty) choreographies for the selection, while respecting the maximum limit of 3 (three) choreography per genre, subgenre and category; Up to 6 (six) choreographies may be approved per group, observing the limit of 1 (one) choreography per genre, subgenre, and category; The groups who wish to have their routines also evaluated for Open stages must inform this in the appropriate field during registration, since some routines may not be approved in the Competitive Show, but may be approved for Open stages; After the selection, the following cannot be changed: name of the choreography, time, music, and category.

8.5 PAYMENT

Once the process of inclusion of choreography is completed, the user can generate bank slips or select multiple choreographies and issue bills on the value of the sum of the choreographies selected; The amount to be paid is R$ 70.00 (seventy reais) per choreography; There will be no refund of fees; Groups from abroad should contact the Festival via e-mail [email protected] to receive guidance on the payment.

8.6 RECORDINGS

For evaluation, the dancers may be with or without costumes. It is the sole responsibility of the Group to track the status of verification of the video in the Groups Area after posting.

The recordings with the failures listed below are liable to disqualification if not corrected: 11 With technical problems of image or sound; 12 Recordings with any type of photoshopping/editing; 13 Recordings with incomplete choreographies; 14 Recordings of poor quality such as: shooting too close or too far away, with mirrors impairing the view of the choreography/ dancers; 15 Recordings with lighting which makes the evaluation of dancers. We recommend shooting with general white lighting and frontal plane; 16 Choreographies in which time of the recording exceeds the established in regulation; 17 Choreography does not match the registration. 18 Any reference to the school/group, such as: uniform, school name, name of dancers or choreographers;

Choreographies that use:  Children born in 2008 or later;  Animals of any kind;  Use of water, glitter, sky paper, lit candles and/or torches, release of coils or any type of material that could mess the stage or impair in any way the next presentation, or even reach the audience.

8.7 ITEMS NOT ALLOWED

The following items are not allowed by the organization of the festival and are liable to disqualification:  Sending the choreography outside the deadline;  Groups that have dancers in their cast entered in more than one group.  Repertoire choreographies that do not correspond to the indications in the Regulation.

8.8 SUBMISSION OF RECORDINGS

The submission of the recordings of the choreography should only be done by uploading (via the Groups), respecting the indications below:

REGULATION MEIA TIP 2017 The files must adhere to the following formats/extensions: .avi, .WMV and .MP4; The files must have the maximum size of 200 MB.

8.9 CHANGE OF CAST

The change of the cast for choreographies in groups must obey the limits below:

3 to 10 dancers: 1 change From 11 to 20 dancers: 2 changes

Comments: Consider the cast of dancers entered into each choreography as a basis for changing; It is not possible to include or exclude participants, only substitution is allowed; Changes in cast in Solo, and variations choreographies will not be allowed. The changes can be made by the group/responsible, directly in the Groups Area up to 24 hours before the presentation. After this period is at the discretion of the organization to decide whether or not the requested changes are authorized. Remember that the requests should be made by the group leader; The substitutions are possible only between people previously indexed.

8.10 TIME LIMITS

Submission by upload:  Deadline to generate the bill: March 15, 2017.  Deadline for posting on the system: March 21, 2017 – by 1 pm.  The upload will only be released after identification of payment of the bank and inclusion of the Cast.

Attention: The deadline for payment is 48 hours after the issuance of the bill. For bills issued on the day of the deadline the deadline for payment will be 24 hours.

8.11 STEP BY STEP

Register all participants (with the CPF of the participant);  Register the group on the website of the Festival  Groups Area;  Wait for the activation link via email and complete the registration;  Wait for confirmation of registration by Festival Staff;  Access the groups with login and password to include routines;  Include choreography by completing all the information (event, genre, subgenre, category, etc.);  Pay the bill relating to the registration of the choreography;  Include the cast of the choreography and the Group Support Staff;  Post the video;  Track the status of the video directly in the Groups Area.

9. SELECTION

9.1 SELECTION STAGES

The The selection of the choreographies entered will be made in 2 (two) stages:

REGULATION MEIA TIP 2017 First stage: professionals specific to each genre will evaluate the choreographies and score them; Second stage: the choreographies that reach the minimum average in the first stage, according to genres, subgenres, and categories are analyzed by the Artistic Curatorship.

For the evaluations in 2 (two) stages, the criteria below will be considered:

Classical Ballet Repertoire . Artistic quality and technique of the interpreters; . Appropriateness of the pieces chosen for the age of the dancers;

Other genres:  Artistic quality and technique of the interpreters;  Choreographic structure and inventiveness;  Consistency in the development of the theme proposed;  Appropriateness of the pieces chosen for the age of the dancers.

Attention: If some irregularity in the process of registration and/or participation in a group/choreography is evidenced, the Organization may disqualify this group/choreography at any stage of the registration process and/or participation in the event.

9.2 SELECTION RESULTS

The relationship of the groups and selected choreographies will be disclosed in the first half of May 2017 on the website of the Festival (www.festivaldedanca.com.br) and sent to the press.  The results will not be informed by phone or email.  The scores or comments of the judges about the choreographies entered into the selection will not be disclosed.

10. CONFIRMATION OF

PARTICIPATION The routines adopted in the selection process should confirm their participation in the site of the Festival ( www.festivaldedanca.com.br ) Area of icon Confirmation, until 05/15/2017.

10.1 DISCLAIMER

If the group desists from presenting the confirmed choreography, the person responsible must communicate - in writing - this fact to the organization of the Festival, so that there is no prejudice to the group in relation to their participation in future editions.

11. PARTICIPATION IN THE EVENT 11.1 ACCESS AND IDENTIFICATION

The identification and access of participants (dancers and support staff) to the stage of the Demi Pointe will be conducted via biometric system and, for all activities related to the Demi Pointe, it will be required to furnish the badge of the Festival, according to item 12 of this Regulation.

11.2 STAGE STRUCTURE

REGULATION MEIA TIP 2017 CURTAINS - Maximum extent of 13.00 x 0.80 m. BARS- The bars of Teatro Juarez Machado are fixed. The use of bars will be allowed according to the availability of the theater and only for Ensembles. It is obligatory to define the use of these bars with the PRODUCTION STAFF. SIZE OF THE OPENING OF THE ACCESS DOOR - 2.00 x 1.5 m. FLY SYSTEM - 4.5m

11.3 STAGE TRIALS

The stage trials will be performed on the stage of Teatro Juarez Machado on the day of presentation; Sound light, and projection technicians will accompany the stage trials in order to guide the groups in the use of available resources; There will be control of entry to the stage and conference by the biometric system; The order of the tests of stage and presentations will be made by the coordination of the festival and made available in the area of  in the Agenda icon, which can be accessed by the leader of the group, stating his/her password/login.

 Time for trials For the choreographies in groups (all genres), each participating group/school will have two times the maximum time of the choreography, as per regulation, plus 5 (five) minutes, for the trials. For the choreographies in Solos and Duos, each participating group/school participant will have the maximum time of the choreography, as per regulation, plus 5 (five) minutes, for the trials. For the Variations (male and female) and Grand , each group/school participant will have the time of the choreography plus 5 (five) minutes for the trials.

11.4 SCENERY ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBY

The responsibility for installation and removal of the sceneries is exclusive of the Technical Staff of the Dance Festival Institute It is mandatory that the groups inform, at time of confirmation of participation, the detailed description of the scenary and scenic elements, as well as the technical needs for their proper installation; This information will be reviewed by the PRODUCTION STAFF of the Festival, and will be approved or not. If the group does not pass on the information within the above time, it will be prevented from using such resources; The assembly of the sceneries will be made only on the day of presentation after the end of the stage trial; The disassembly and removal of the sceneries must happen MANDITORILY at the end of the presentations, with the exception of the award-winning choreography and who will participate in the Afternoon of Champions; The festival is not responsible for scenaries left after the presentations.

11.5 SCENIC ELEMENTS

REGULATION MEIA TIP 2017 The scenic elements, sceneries and/or objects of the scene (ground), depending on size and weight should have wheels and latches that are appropriate for moving them, coming properly finished. The time between one choreography and another is minimal.

11.6 SCREENS  We recommend the screens to be in raw cotton, with eyelets at the top.  Remember that for screens of fragile materials such as paper, nonwovens and others, repair may not be possible in the event of any damage.  The screens should come with the ropes and strings for tying in the bars.  The maximum size of the screens is 11 m x 4.7 m (net area of 11 m x 4.5 m)

39.85 PROJECTION The groups who wish to use projection must comply with the following information:  Inform at time of confirmation of participation interest in using projection;  The file for projection should be on DVD. You will not be allowed to use flash drives;  The file to be projected should come finished, the equipment and the team are ready only for playback of the material in simple projection in the cyclorama.  For mapped projections, other equipment and programs are required.  The file must be in format .MOV, with at least 1280x720 pixels (net area of screen viewing is 11mx4m) - Size of the Projector: 16x9 In the case of music being synchronized with the projection the group should bring the music as back-up and leave it with the sound staff.

11.8 LIGHTING It is strictly prohibited to add reflectors to the lighting map provided by the organization of the event.

18.9 SOUND

 The groups that require plugging equipment in the sound system in the event should describe them in detail at the time of confirmation of participation.  Remember that the adjustment/equalization of this equipment will be made during the time of stage trial of the group.  The amount of channels will be authorized according to the availability of the sound system of the event and schedule of presentations

11.10 SONGS

The groups should send the song that will be used in the confirmation of registration via system. In .MP3 format, maximum size of 12 MB. Participants should bring an identified CD (including housing) for each choreography to be presented; The CDs should be recorded only with the range used for the presentation (we suggest the WAVE and/or MP3 files); The reproduction may not have interference from applause or abrupt cuts; The CDs will be delivered to the production of the event in the trial of stage and will only be returned to the group at the end of the presentation; For the presentations on Open Stages, the group must arrange other CDs. Other media will not be permitted.

11.11 DRESSING ROOMS

The occupation of the dressing rooms is subject to the following conditions:  The dancer must bring the badge provided by the Festival;

REGULATION MEIA TIP 2017  The order of entry in the dressing rooms will follow the order of entry into the scene, as defined by the organization;  The dressing rooms must be vacated soon after the presentations, in order to be used by the following group;  The organization will not be responsible for items left in the dressing rooms and/or warm-up room.

11.12 EVALUATION AND CLASSIFICATION The genres submitted will be reviewed by a panel of judges composed of five (5) members of expression in the artistic world of dance for each of the genre.

For evaluation of the choreography, the following criteri will be analyzed a: Classical Ballet Repertoire  Artistic quality and technique of interpreters;  Fidelity to the version proposed.

Other genre: 6 Artistic quality and technique of interpreters; 7 Choreographic structure and inventiveness; 8 Consistency in the development of the proposed topic.

For the classification of the choreographies, the criteria below will be adopted: 1St place – highest average equal to or greater than 9.0. 2Nd place - average immediately below the 1st place, equal to or greater than 8.0. 3Rd place - average immediately below the 2nd place

11.13 PRESENTATIONS IN DEMI POINTE

The choreographies will be timed at the time of submission. There is a tolerance of 5% of the maximum time of choreography, according to item 3 of this regulation; The participating groups must be on site, compulsorily, one hour before the scheduled time for their presentation. The lighting and the adjustment of the scenic box will be the same for all participants.

11.14 CRITERIA FOR DISQUALIFICATION Choreographies which exceed the time limit laid down in regulation. Groups/Choreographies that have dancers on their cast from other groups and/or not entered in the choreography. Scenic elements not informed in registration; Choreographies that use: . Children born in 2008 or later; . Any animals; . Use of water, glitter, sky paper, lit candles and/or torches, release of coils or any type of material that could mess the stage, impair the next presentation or reach the audience. Attention: The groups that are disqualified for any of the reasons: b, c, d are unable to participate in the following year.

11.15 DISCLOSURE OF RESULTS  The disclosure of the award winning happens daily, up to 30 minutes after the end of the show (2nd session);  The scores can be viewed directly in the Groups Area;

11.16 MEETING WITH THE JUDGES Daily at 10 am, the meeting between competing groups of the genre presented in the previous afternoon and the respective judges occurs. The participation of 4 (four) people per group will be allowed, upon presentation of the badge of the Festival.  Guest reviews are available to leaders of groups on the day following the presentation in the room where the meeting with the judges occurs;  After the meeting, comments can be removed at the Participant Service desk, at the Secretary of the Festival.

11.17 IMAGE RELEASE

REGULATION MEIA TIP 2017 All the images of the participant groups may be used at the discretion of the organization, no charge for the Dance Festival of Joinville.

11.18 CERTIFICATES All certificates will be available online in the Groups Area on the site of the Joinville Dance Festival (www.festivaldedanca.com.br) from the second half of August 2017 and may be viewed and printed with a login and password for each group, defined by them at the time of registration in the event.

12. GENERAL INFORMATION

12.1 RECEPTION OF PARTICIPANTS

12.2 IDENTIFICATION OF PARTICIPANTS

 The use of the badge of the Festival will be mandatory for the Competitive Show, Open Stages, Housing, Courses, and other events of the Festival.  The identification of the participants will be held via biometric system for activities related to the Competitive Show.  The registration of fingerprints and the badges will be made at the Festival Secretary, only upon presentation of the original and official document with photo, for example: Identity Card, Passport, Driver's License or Class Entity Portfolio.

13. OMITTED CASES

The omitted cases in this regulation shall be resolved by the Coordination of the Joinville Dance Festival Institute.
