Match background Shakhtar • Shakhtar followed up their record-breaking 7-0 win at FC BATE Borisov on matchday three with a 5-0 victory in the return. After his five-goal haul in the first match, Luiz Adriano scored a hat-trick in the home game. • The Ukrainian champions were denied on matchday two by a FC Porto equaliser in the fourth minute of added time despite leading 2-0 in the 89th minute. • On eight points, Shakhtar are two behind already-qualified Porto but can only be knocked out if they lose both remaining games and BATE pick up six points. • It would be only the third time – all in the last five seasons – that Shakhtar have advanced to the knockout rounds. • They have lost only three of their last 18 home games in the UEFA Champions League, winning nine. • Shakhtar faced Spanish opposition in last season's group stage, beating Real Sociedad de Fútbol 4-0 in Donetsk with Douglas Costa scoring twice and Luiz Adriano and Alex Teixeira also on the mark.
