While there are precedents for gender-inclusiveness in denominational histo.cy and scripture, a review of the general literature shows an ambivalent situation presently existing in the public sector in Australia. An examination of 1984-1989 staffing lists of Seventh-day Adventist elementacy schools and high schools in the SPD (excluding mission union conferences) reveals a significant under-representation of women in educational leadership positions. Several strategies are suggested for implementation in order to effect change. Most importantly, the campus is alive with enthusiastic, bright students and they bring energy and purpose to our work. Another visible sign that radically changes the landscape is the progress made on the new university entrance. It’s impossible to miss the impact when you stand at the THE ANDREWS UNIVERSITY MAGAZINE new roundabout on Seminary Drive and gaze down the road to an unobstructed view of Interim Editor Old U.S. 31. As my colleague Rebecca May says, “Before we know it, it will seem like Patricia Spangler (BS ’04) it has always been here.” The entrance truly changes the face of the university to a more welcoming and open persona. Contributing Editors On the other side of campus, construction on the new milking parlor at the Dairy is Tami Condon (BS ’91) moving along rapidly. Check out the handsome spread in this issue focusing on the 100th Brent Geraty (MA ‘91) anniversary of this important educational and financial component of our campus. The Jenny Tillay renovation of dining services has also begun in the Campus Center. Look for a progress report and photos of this project in the next issue of Focus.
