As part of our anniversary, we have nearly met our monumental fundraising goal of $1 million. Cameron Findlay, of Archer Daniels Midland Company, will receive the Golden Gavel Award, and Shawn Fagan, of Citadel, will receive the Ralph A. Gabric Award. The Golden Gavel Award recognizes individuals, law firms and corporations that make significant contributions to further the mission of CARPLS to provide access to justice for all, and to pro bono commitment in the legal aid community. Mr. Findlay has spent his career committed to serving others, whether working for the government, implementing a pro bono culture into a corporate infrastructure, or through his personal service to charitable institutions. In all of his corporate leadership positions, he has been a driving force to establish pro bono programs at Aon, Medtronic, and most recently, ADM. Mr. Findlay has personally handled a number of pro bono matters, even while serving as general counsel, including a conviction appeal, an employment claim, and a case for a client seeking post-conviction relief. The Ralph A. Gabric Award is a lifetime achievement honor presented by CARPLS to commemorate transformative leadership on behalf of the organization. Mr. Fagan has demonstrated years of commitment to CARPLS' mission. Having previously served on the Board of Directors from 2008-2016, and the advisory board currently, he was instrumental in recruiting outstanding board leadership, increasing our program capacity and improving our financial viability. His efforts have made a difference to CARPLS and the greater legal aid community. Golden Gavel Dinner Co- Chairs include Samuel K. Skinner of Greenberg Traurig, LLP, Adam Hoeflich of Bartlit Beck LLP, and Daniel Rubinstein of Winston & Strawn LLP. Tickets for the event are $250 and can be purchased online at www.carpls.org/golden-gavel/.
