To get the most out of this book you will need: -Drumsticks -Access to the internet -Device to play music -Good set of headphones—I like the isolation headphones made by Vic Firth -Metronome you can plug headphones into -Music stand -Basic understanding of reading rhythms—quarter, eighth, triplets, and sixteenth notes -Drum set: bass drum, snare drum, hi-hat is a great start -Other musicians to play with Look up any names, bands, and words you do not know. -

Episode 061: Jonathan 'Sugarfoot' Moffett Special If Using
The MJCast - Episode 061: Jonathan ‘Sugarfoot’ Moffett Special If using any of the below text, please reference The MJCast and display the following podcast URL. Thank-you. http://www.themjcast.com/episode-061-jonathan-sugarfoot-moffett-special/ The MJCast (Q): Hello, and welcome to the MJCast! I am Q, one of your hosts for today, and today we're interviewing one of Michael's most long-standing collaborators—potentially his most long-standing. The MJCast (Jamon): Jonathan 'Sugarfoot' Moffett worked with Michael Jackson and the Jacksons as their tour drummer starting in 1979 with the "Destiny Tour", and continued to work with them later for the "Triumph Tour", the "Victory Tour", Michael's 1988 Grammy Awards performance, the "HIStory World Tour", his "30th Anniversary" shows, and, eventually, "This is It". MJCast (Q): Not only did Jonathan Sugarfoot have the honor of collaborating closely with the Jacksons, but he has also toured with artists such as Madonna, George Michael, Prince, Elton John, and Lionel Richie. MJCast (Jamon): Jonathan, it's an honor to have you here on the MJCast how're you going? Jonathan Moffett: I'm doing pretty good—I've been doing pretty good. A little mistake in there—I'd never toured with Prince. I've worked in a studio [where] Madonna and Prince [were] on the same song "Keep it Together", so I've never toured. I don't want misinformation to get out there, so I've never toured with Prince, although he has asked me about touring with him, which never just came about because he was at a lot of the after parties at the Jackson shows, Elton shows, and cameo shows, and he'd speak to me and give me a combination of performance and he asked me about playing with him, but it just never happened. -

Led by Dylan Ryan, a drummer/composer with feet firmly planted in both indie rock and jazz, the group features guitarist Timothy Young (David Sylvian, Reggie Watts, Wayne Horvitz) and Devin Hoff (Nels Cline Singers, Yoko Ono, Cibo Matto). Together on Circa, their second release on Cuneiform Records, the trio forge a wholly unique, emotionally-charged and stylistically omnivorous music that invokes elements of Rush, Fugazi, Fred Frith’s Massacre, James ‘Blood’ Ulmer, and more, and sonically ranges from fearlessly improvisational to tender; the abrasive to the understated. Indeed, this range of influences and openness to sonic possibilities is what initially drew Ryan to his bandmates. “I saw Tim Young play somewhat by chance in an old bar The Doors used to play in and I was so impressed that I wanted to be in a band with him immediately. -
Thanet Poetry Journal Volume 1 May 2017
Thanet Poetry Journal Volume 1 May 2017 FOREWORD I feel extremely honoured to be the Thanet Poetry Journal’s first editor. Firstly I would like to mention Connor Sansby and recognise all the hard work he has done to make this Journal happen. Without all his efforts this project would be dead in the water. I, of course, would like to thank everyone that has submitted their work to be published, the quality of poetry we received was nothing less than exemplary. The Thanet poetry scene has changed dramatically in the last couple of years with existing events evolving and growing and with new and exciting events being created too. We have tried to reflect this by including the work of poets have travelled to perform here time and time again, we owe you a big thank you for you continued support. All local poets have grown so much in my time performing but so many new poets have found the courage to share their work, which for me personally is something that continues to make me smile. Being a part of such an open and welcoming community makes me very proud. So without any further ado, I would like to declare the first of many Thanet Journals open and ready to read, share and enjoy. Stefan Gambrell Neanderthal Bard DAFT THINGS HAPPEN ON TRAINS I heard a woman say “I have never known anybody use so much toothpaste in one week”. I wasn’t sure how significant this claim was as she didn’t say for how many weeks she had been observing toothpaste usage. -

My Favorite Music of 2018 Dave Purcell Spotify playlist at: https://goo.gl/oz6Y7M Hi all, Here’s a shorter-than-usual version of my annual music list. I hope you find something new to dig. Best wishes for a peaceful, healthy, and music-filled 2019. Favorite 2018 releases 1 (tie). Calexico – The Thread That Keeps Us I’ve long been a casual Calexico fan. This is the first release of theirs I’ve loved from beginning to end. It helps that their show at Woodward Theater was one of my top shows of the year – a joyous blast with a multi-talented band and a deep catalog. Angelique Kidjo – Remain in Light There’s a classic line from The Wire – “You come at the king, you best not miss” – that applies here. It takes a lot of courage to cover one of the greatest records of all time. Fortunately, Angelique Kidjo – a fierce artist with an earth-shaking voice, a native of Benin who developed Paris and NYC – is the right woman for the job. She took Remain back to Fela Kuti and the other African artists that David Byrne and Brian Eno used as inspiration. This was another top show of the year. 3. Donny McCaslin – Blow I fell in love with McCaslin and his band after they collaborated with David Bowie on Blackstar (2016). Amy and I have seen them twice since – once at the venerable Village Vanguard – and they’re now my favorite live act. On Blow, McCaslin followed Bowie’s lead and changed up his usual approach. -
