2017-2018 Group Race Calendar Australian Greyhound Racing Association 2017-2018 GROUP RACE CALENDAR Proudly sponsored by Message from the Australian Greyhound Racing Association elcome to the Australian Greyhound Racing Association’s 2017/2018 Group Racing Calendar. This year’s Calendar comprises a total of 121 Group events categorised as 33 Group 1, 28 Group 2 and 41 Group 3 Wevents. In addition, this year we have 6 Group 3 Restricted events as well as a total of 13 Listed events have been included in this year’s calendar. This year’s printed calendar breaks the events down into Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, Group 3 Restricted and Listed sections. It also highlights summaries of the distance events and also highlights the premier events for youngsters, the AGRA Aged Classic events in separate sections. The printed calendar also lists all events in chronological order, a must for those enthusiasts following Group racing on a week by week basis. Once again, AGRA is delighted to have its Group Racing calendar sponsored by Sky Racing. Sky Racing’s association with AGRA has been central to developing the profile of Group Racing and we are delighted to once again have a positive and mutually beneficial media partnership in place. Greyhound enthusiasts are also advised that AGRA has its own website – www.agra.com.au. The site is easy to navigate and is a one stop shop where tracking past, present and future group racing is available. I wish all involved in supporting, participating or promoting events within the 2017/2018 Group Race Calendar the best of fortunes. Thirty-six different artists, mostly British, are represented, among them key sporting and animal artists such as John Frederick Herring, Sr. (1795–1865) and Harry Hall (1814–1882), and Royal Academicians James Ward (1769–1859) and Sir Alfred Munnings (1878–1959), the latter who served as President of the Royal Academy. Works in the exhibit feature images of racing, pets, hunting, and prized livestock including cattle and, especially, horses.
