The overarching story within Angel: Crown Prince Syndrome collected issues was more Angel: Crown Prince Syndrome centric, which keeps to the tone of the last collected volume and that pays off by the end of the final issue. I will say that a lot of the Angel: Crown Prince Syndrome plots were The little plot lines that were introduced in each issue felt confusing as they weaved around the main story. They weren't focused on enough and ended too quickly or not at all! They could be leaving threads open to deal with later on bu Actual rating 3. I did like the fact that there was real world and mythos building and I can't wait to see what they do in the last few issues! Dec 07, Deborah Ideiosepius rated it it was ok Shelves: comics-graphic-novels. I love Angel the TV series. I picked this up in the library, flicked through and decided the title was a coincidence. The main characters are that unrecognisable in every way. I quite liked the plethora of weird characters that are not in the Teeve version and it might read ok if I had read number one. I don't think it would ever be better than ok though and it certainly lacks the Joss' brilliance and subtlety. The artwork is average to bad. Average in that it is standard hack work graphics with I love Angel the TV series. Average in that it is standard hack work graphics with little inspiration. Bad in that Angel, Conner and Spike should not be so difficult to draw that they are unrecognisable. Quite odd really, several of the 'Fables' books are quite nicely drawn. I won't look for more. James, who had claimed to be an angel, attacks new member of the team, Laura Angel: Crown Prince Syndrome, when she calls him out on his lie. James injures her and Angel considerably. The incident is interwoven with a letter between James and his sister, offering to buy Earth. Turns out James is one of a powerful alien family. Spike is having a soul problem. Conner is sought by multiple females, though none of them human. Later in the volume, Charles Gunn makes an appearance. I am not quite sure of the chronology in the Buffyverse, but it is sometime after the end of the Angel television show. Everyone has a memory of Angel: Crown Prince Syndrome, but also the belief that it did not happen. There are lots of new characters with whom I am not familiar and the plot lines were a bit thin. Angel meets his match in James, a demonic god masquerading as an Angelic emissary, who severs the vampire's feet and hands, temporarily disabling him. In the meantime, Illyria attempts to seduce Connor, igniting passion and lust in the members of Angel, Inc. The true mission of the female warrior demons worshipping and protecting Connor becomes clear. This volume also contains an interesting tale of Eddie Hope Angel: Crown Prince Syndrome Charles Gunn. I very highly recommend this second bo Great storyline and so-so art. I very highly recommend this second book in the trilogy. The story was decent, but the art was spotty in some places. Most recently he has been integrated into the Marvel cinematic universe as the director of The Avengers franchise, as well as earning a creative credit for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. My love for Joss Whedon began in 1998. (1) Joss Whedon has often stated that each year of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was planned to end in such a way that, were the show not renewed, the finale would act as an apt summation of the series so far. This was obviously truer of some years than others – generally speaking, the odd-numbered years were far more clearly possible endings than the even ones, offering definitive closure of a phase in Buffy’s career rather than a slingshot into another phase. Both Season Five and Season Seven were particularly planned as artistically satisfying conclusions, albeit with very different messages – Season Five arguing that Buffy’s situation can only be relieved by her heroic death, Season Seven allowing her to share, and thus entirely alleviate, slayerhood. Being the Chosen One is a fatal burden; being one of the Chosen Several Thousand is something a young woman might live with. (2) It has never been the case that endings in Angel were so clear-cut and each year culminated in a slingshot ending, an attention-grabber that kept viewers interested by allowing them to speculate on where things were going. Season One ended with the revelation that Angel might, at some stage, expect redemption and rehumanization – the Shanshu of the souled vampire – as the reward for his labours, and with the resurrection of his vampiric sire and lover, Darla, by the law firm of Wolfram & Hart and its demonic masters (‘To Shanshu in LA’, 1022).

This presentation examined how issue eight of the Angel: After the Fall miniseries, written by Brian Lynch and with art by Nick Runge and colors by John Rauch, is a prime example of this phenomenon. Angel, the television series, leaves the viewer without full closure; "Not Fade Away" ends in medias res as a way of reinforcing the show's central theme that the fight against evil is eternal. In many respects, After the Fall seems to offer the reader the closure that the television finale lacked. However, by bringing Wesley Wyndam-Pryce back from the dead in a non- corporeal form, the comic miniseries also complicates the apparent resolution of the character's arc as depicted in "Not Fade Away." I am a fan of the new addition to the group, Billy, who despite being without special slayer abilities, is doing pretty well for himself and can certainly keep his own in a fight. Despite this, he continues to believe that he is worthless and should quit until his boyfriend, Devon, reassures him that he is an integral part of the team. He still has some growing up to do, and I'm excited to watch him go through all the motions as I do like him.
