UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS AMHERST Directed by: Professor Robert F. Miltz The great variety of authoring activities involved in the development of Web- based learning environments requires a more comprehensive integration of principles and strategies not only from instructional design, but also from other disciplines such as human-computer interaction and software engineering. The present dissertation addresses this issue by proposing an object-oriented instructional design (OOID) model based on Tennyson's fourth generation instructional systems development (ISD4) model. It incorporates object-oriented analysis and design methods from human-computer interaction (HCI) and software engineering into a single framework for Internet use in education. Introducing object orientation into the instructional design of distributed hypermedia learning environments allows for an enhanced utilization of so-called learning objects that can be used, re-used or referenced during technology-mediated instruction.

The first PFL playoff card of the year is headlined by the former Bellator welterweight champion, Rory MacDonald, as he takes on the 2019 PFL welterweight champion, Ray Cooper III. MacDonald is 4-3-1 since making his Bellator debut back in 2017, and is coming off a controversial decision loss to Gleison Tibau at PFL 6. Luckily for MacDonald, the first-round finish of Chris Millender propelled him into the playoff bracket. Cooper is 9-2-1 since making his PFL debut back in 2018, with eight of his nine PFL wins coming by way of stoppage. Cooper will look to capture the PFL welterweight championship for the second time in his career, having made the finals in both the 2018 and 2019 PFL playoffs. Ray Cooper III vs. Rory MacDonald Odds Online sportsbooks such as Wynnbet have the odds set for PFL 7’s main event. DESCRIPTORS *Adolescents; Comparative Analysis; *Criticism; *Cultural Context; *Films; Foreign Countries; Models; Secondary Education; Secondary School Students; Semiotics; Student Surveys; *Values IDENTIFIERS *China; Film Genres; Narrative Text; *Visual Representation ABSTRACT A narrative study was ccnducted of the visual models in two movies preferred by Chinese adolescents in two schools (n=152) . The two movies studied were "Three Decisive Campaigns" (A Chinese Trilogy) and the American science fiction movie, "Jurassic Park." The modified approach from Bandura's modeling theory and film semiotics was used to derive amore adequate explanation of modeling from the relationships among narrative, culture, and values. Results indicated that the narrative and cultural characteristics of the film characters at the levels of text, structure, and logic provide some basic prerequisites for model selection and preference. From the viewpoint of modeling, characters in the movies provide three main kinds of knowledge for vicarious learning:(1) social role norm;(2) the environmental contingency; and (3) the vicarious reinforcing experience. Findings suggest that different genres not only influence what kinds of value models are presented, but also how they are presented and how theyare able to convince the viewer.
