TODAY’S GAME – The Colorado Eagles take on the Milwaukee Admirals this afternoon in the second game of a two-game series. THE SEASON SERIES – Colorado will face Milwaukee four times this season, with two of those games taking place at the Budweiser Events Center. The Eagles lead the season series with a record of 2-1-0 through the first three meetings. THE ALL-TIME SERIES – The Eagles are 2-1-0 all-time against the Admirals, this is just the second meeting between the two teams at the Budweiser Events Center. EAGLES’ LAST GAME (2/29) – The Milwaukee Admirals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and held on to defeat the Colorado Eagles, 4-2 on Saturday. Jacob MacDonald and Griffen Molino each found the back of the net in the loss. Milwaukee goaltender Connor Ingram earned the win in net, stopping 34 of the 36 shots he faced in the contest. BRIDGEPORT SOUND TIGERS: COACHES BIOS BRENT THOMPSON - HEAD COACH Brent Thompson is in his seventh season as head coach of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, which also marks his ninth year in the New York Islanders organization. Thompson was originally hired to coach the Sound Tigers on June 28, 2011 and led the team to a division title in 2011-12 before being named assistant South Division coach of the Islanders for two seasons (2012-14). On May 2, 2014, the Islanders announced Thompson would return to his role as head coach of the Sound Tigers. He is 246-203-50 in 499 career regular-season games as Bridgeport's head coach. Thompson became the Sound Tigers' all-time winningest head coach on Jan. 28, 2017, passing Jack Capuano with his 134th career victory. Prior to his time in Bridgeport, Thompson served as head coach of the Alaska Aces (ECHL) for two years (2009-11), winning the Kelly Cup Championship in 2011. During his two seasons as head coach in Alaska, Thompson amassed a record of 83- 50-11 and won the John Brophy Award as ECHL Coach of the Year in 2011 after leading the team to a record of 47-22-3. Thompson also served as a player/coach with the CHL’s Colorado Eagles in 2003-04 and was an assistant with the AHL’s Peoria Rivermen from 2005-09. Before joining the coaching ranks, Thompson enjoyed a 14-year professional playing career from 1991-2005, which included 121 NHL games and more than 900 professional contests. The Calgary, AB native was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round (39th overall) of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.

Shot Quality 2005-06 Revisiting NHL shot quality for the 2005-06 Regular Season Ken Krzywicki – October 2006 Abstract This study revisits previous analyses regarding NHL shot quality. A logistic regression model using 2005-06 regular season data was constructed to predict the probability of a shot on goal going in. The data elements available for study during the 2005-06 regular season were more than those in 2003-04. For example, the NHL made available take- and give-aways, hits, missed shots, etc. that were not published in 2003-04. New rules, such as the elimination of the center red line for offside passes, the goalie “forbidden zone,” redrawn zone dimensions and tighter officiating standards made for a different appearing game than in the past. Far more power play opportunities were available the past season and the goals per game were up. A logistic regression model was chosen to fit the 2005-06 regular season data, with the binary target outcome variable of goal versus save. Five predictor variables—distance, rebound, situation, shot after opponent turnover and shot type—remained in the final model. Each shot on goal was then assigned a predicted probability of going in, i.e. shot quality for. One minus this value was the predicted probability of a save (shot quality against).
