Sea freight: 1) Djibouti is the gateway port which services Ethiopia -1,000 km away from the capital Addis Ababa. 2) Road Restrictions are the normal Allowable weight accepted by shipping lines. 3) HBL should be consigned to the actual consignee. 4) Shipper needs to provide Original Commercial Invoice, Packing List & Certificate of Origin. 5) Through Bills of Lading (TBL) are available ex Djibouti for selected inland destinations such as Addis Ababa, Nazret, Dessie, Mojo, Bahrdar, Gonder, Gambella, and Awassa. Customs Clearance needs to be done before cargo trucked to Ethiopia. 6) Ethiopian Shipping Lines (ESL) has a monopoly on the import of commercial cargo paid by letter of credit (L/C)
