DAY 1 / TUE FEB 14 / TORONTO – SANTIAGO Board an overnight flight to Santiago, Chile, and get some rest. An adventure awaits!

DAY 2 / WED FEB 15 / ARRIVE SANTIAGO (D) Welcome to Chile! After checking into the hotel, the remainder of the day is at leisure. Enjoy a welcome dinner this evening. Accommodation: Sheraton Hotel or similar

DAY 3 / THU FEB 16 / SANTIAGO (B,L) After breakfast, head to Colchagua Valley, an historical region famous for its choice Chilean wines. Tour a vineyard and partake in a tasting before taking a scenic cable car ride toward the Cerro Chaman. Once there, visit an indigenous village, tour the cosmos with a stargazing session at the local observatory, and enjoy a barbecue lunch at Restaurant Casa Grande. DAY 4 / FRI FEB 17 / SANTIAGO – PUNTA ARENAS / EMBARKATION (B,D) This morning, take to the skies on a chartered flight from Santiago to Punta Arenas, where theMS Midnatsol awaits. Settle in and acquaint yourself with the ship. Celebrate with a welcome dinner in the main dining room.

DAY 5 / SAT FEB 18 / CHILEAN FJORDS (B,L,D) After a night’s rest, take in the astounding scenery of the Garibaldi Fjord, home to Andean condors, sea lions, and an untold variety of birds. Be sure not to miss the striking blue Garibaldi glaciers, known to make a surprise appearance as the ship sails toward the fjord’s end.

DAY 6 / SUN FEB 19 / CHILEAN FJORDS AND CAPE HORN (B,L,D) Step out on deck as the ship arrives at Cape Horn, the southernmost point of South America. Weather permitting, disembark onto this maritime legend and stand atop the stark archipelago.

DAY 7 / MON FEB 20 / CRUISING (B,L,D) The voyage continues across the Drake Passage, with over 600 kilometres of open sea connecting the southern tip of South America and Antarctica. Activities abound onboard including lectures in the Explorer Room and dance lessons.

DAY 8 / TUE FEB 21 / CRUISING (B,L,D) Wake up in awe-inspiring Antarctica. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast with endless views of icebergs and pure white panoramas. Take the day to relax, attend a lecture, or catch up on reading. Later on, keep an eye out for a vast sea of black and grey which make up the famous penguin colonies of the frozen south.

DAY 9 – 13 / FEB 22 - 26 / ANTARCTICA (B,L,D) Over the next few days, explore Antarctica’s majestic frozen landscape and see the fearless, flightless penguins of the South Shetlands and Cuverville Island up close. Embark on a field day excursion or a kayak tour, and discover the region’s many historic bays and harbours, home to humpback whales and old whaling stations.

DAY 14 / MON FEB 27 / CRUISING (B,L,D) As the ship turns back toward Cape Horn, attend a lecture, breathe in the freshest air imaginable up on deck, or recuperate from a day of expeditionary escapades in the Antarctic.

DAY 15 / TUE FEB 28 / CAPE HORN & CHILEAN FJORDS (B,L,D) Now back in Cape Horn, sail into the Beagle Channel for a visit to Puerto Williams, a charming little town nestled between mountain and sea. Take advantage of yet another excellent photo opportunity as the ship passes through the Chilean fjords.

DAY 16 / WED MAR 1 / CHILEAN FJORDS (B,L,D) Arrive at the Chilean fjords for one last landing. Celebrate the final night on board with a farewell dinner.

DAY 17 / THU MAR 2 / PUNTA ARENAS – SANTIAGO (B,L,D) After breakfast, disembark at Punta Arenas and transfer to the airport for a charter flight back to Santiago. Once settled into the hotel, enjoy an authentic Chilean dinner at Los Buenos Muchachos. Accommodation: Sheraton Hotel or similar

DAY 18 / FRI MAR 3 / SANTIAGO (B,L) Explore Santiago, a colonial city with modern high-rise architecture. Drive downtown and pass by O’Higgins Park and picturesque Cousino Palace. Stop by the Universidad de Chile, San Francisco Church, and Santa Lucia Hill, where Santiago was first founded. Continue to Plaza de Armas, cross the Mapocho River to the bohemian Bellavista district, and San Cristobal Hill for rewarding views of the Andes Mountains. Stop for lunch at the Costamia restaurant in Costanera Center, one of Santiago’s biggest shopping malls, before transferring to the airport for an overnight flight back to Toronto.
