The esteemed football coach Vince Lombardi believed that Special Interest: District Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price Webelos-o-ree – pg 2 which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile. Join Scouting Night – pg 2 Our Scouts, most likely, are not great leaders. In fact, they probably don’t know the SFF – pg 3 first thing about leadership when they take on their first leadership position of Rechartering – pg 4 responsibility – most often as a patrol leader. It is through Scouting that they begin the process of learning about leadership. During their time as a Scout, they most likely Advancement won’t become accomplished leaders – even those who serve in multiple positions of Boy Scout pre 2016 responsibility or as senior patrol leader – but they will develop many leadership traits requirement ending – pg 8 through their Scouting experience that will give them an advantage outside Scouting and later in college and adult life. Council/National What are some of the ways we can see if good leadership traits are taking hold? JOTA/JOTI – pg 10 We can begin by examining some of the qualities that a great leader possesses.
