Исторически преглед 71 (2015) 3-4 ISSN 0323-9748 Dzheni Ivanova THE CHIPROVTSI EVENTS FROM 1688 – 1690 (SOME NEW ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT THE MILITARY ACTIVITIES OF THE REAYA OF CHIPROVTSI REGION DURING THE 1683–1699 WAR) (Summary) The war of the Ottomans with the Holy League (1683-1699) causes significant changes in the lives of the Balkan provinces within the Ottoman Empire. An interesting moment in the history of the Empire is the participation of civilians in the armed conflicts between the Habsburgs and the Ottoman armies. The population is drawn into the conflict in various ways both by the Ottoman authorities and by the Habsburg propaganda in the Balkans, and assists both parties. One such moment is the Chiprovtsi uprising, as it is called in the Bulgarian historiography, from 1688. The story about the uprising and, in general, about the fate of the Bulgarian Catholics, had been constructed on the basis of the documentation of the Catholic communities, Christian chronicles from ХVІІІ c, relations of Dubrovnik agents, information by the Habsburg generals and correspondents for the military actions in the Balkans, as well as additions by orthodox priests. Up to that moment, however, the Ottoman sources that represent the point of view of the ruling party regarding the Chiprovtsi events remain almost unknown. The goal of this article is to reveal so far unknown information regarding the crushing of the Chiprovtsi uprising through the point of view of an Ottoman historiography monument from the late 17th – early 18th century. The main story was described by Bakkaloğlu Sarı Hadji Mehmed pasha Defterdar (?–1717) in his story Zubde-i Vekayiat (Important events). The author was for a long time a servant at the financial department in 1 Istanbul in the 1680s and 1690s. In the early18th century he was appointed for the first time as a chief defterdar and he occupied that position several times in his lifetime, and that is why he was popular with his nickname – Defterdar. Some comparisons are also made with other sources from that period and some suggestions are presented regarding the chronological frames of the follow up events in Chiprovtsi region. 2 .

Annex REPORT FOR 2019 UNDER THE “HEALTH CARE” PRIORITY of the NATIONAL ROMA INTEGRATION STRATEGY OF THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA 2012 - 2020 Operational objective: A national monitoring progress report has been prepared for implementation of Measure 1.1.2. “Performing obstetric and gynaecological examinations with mobile offices in settlements with compact Roma population”. During the period 01.07—20.11.2019, a total of 2,261 prophylactic medical examinations were carried out with the four mobile gynaecological offices to uninsured persons of Roma origin and to persons with difficult access to medical facilities, as 951 women were diagnosed with diseases. The implementation of the activity for each Regional Health Inspectorate is in accordance with an order of the Minister of Health to carry out not less than 500 examinations with each mobile gynaecological office. Financial resources of BGN 12,500 were allocated for each mobile unit, totalling BGN 50,000 for the four units. “KOZLODUY” NPP GEOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT AS A BARRIER AGAINST RADIONUCLIDE MIGRATION Dimitar Antonov Geological Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, “Acad. G. Bonchev” St., Bl. 24, 1113 Sofia, Bulgaria, [email protected] ABSTRACT The aim of this report is to present an analysis of the geological settings along “Kozlodyu” NPP area from the viewpoint of a natural, protecting barrier against unacceptable radionuclides migration in the environment. Possible sources of such migration could be an eventual accident in active nuclear plant; radioactive releases either from decommissioned Power Units or from temporary or permanent radwaste repositories. The report is directed mainly to the last case and especially to the site selection for near surface short lived low (LLW) and intermediate level (ILW) radwaste repository. In Bulgaria a preliminary choice of prospective sites in different geological formations has been made. The terrains in the region of Kozloduy are among these sites since they offer advantages from the viewpoint of the local population reaction, the hazards related to RAW transport and the natural conditions. This region is calm in tectonic aspect. It is characterised by VII degree of seismic intensity according to the MSK scale and no active faults have been determined in it. Thick Neogene clays (more than 600 meters), some with sand layers, covered by Quaternary clays and loess have been deposited on the top of Jurassic and Cretaceous sediments. Beyond the range of the river Danube tributaries the relief has low segmentation. The low Danube terraces are covered by loess and the relief lowerings in the loess cover represent an interest in searching prospective sites.

Ochridski blvd., 1000 Sofia, Bulgaria Abstract Smooth surface carpets are the most typical for the hand woven carpets in Bulgaria. The nowadays production of traditional woven carpets faces several difficulties, however. Therefore the design of smaller, frequently used items, art works and souvenirs could be a key solution for preservation of the carpet. This study would like to draw the attention to Chiprovtsi carpets, as the tradition of carpet-weaving in this Bulgarian town was recently (2014) inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The preservation of the carpets motifs is of importance for the cultural heritage; and their larger dissemination can give them new, meaningful life in the modern times. The study presents basic motifs in the weaving of Chiprovtsi carpet, which are typical, and can be used for designing of new woven items. The motifs adaptation in textile items of today is shown. Introduction The traditionally made woven carpets and rugs in Bulgaria with smooth surface and double faces are distinguished by the captivating wealth of various geometric, human, plant and animal ornaments. Woven for centuries, the carpets jealously guard and transmit the tradition of the best aesthetic achievements of the Bulgarian craftsmanship in almost unchanged appearance, and at the same time they continuously develop.
