Ach ja, ab jetzt ist das Wir möchten diese Ausgabe dem Bluesmusiker LOUISIANA RED (bürger- lich Iverson Minter) widmen, der am 25.02.2012 im Alter von 79 Jahren Heft komplett farbig, schreibt doch mal, wie Euch das unerwartet gestorben ist. Das geplante Konzert am 7.4. Bonn, Harmonie neue Layout gefällt. fällt damit natürlich aus. Er war einer der letzten großen amerikanischen Delta Blues-Musiker. Concert Reports from the HellNoise Archiv AMOK VEDAR, MORBID MIND, CDB, DUST DEVILS 28. Februar 2003 Berlin, Garage Pankow Nach langer Fahrt mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln, traf ich gegen 21.15 Uhr endlich in der Garage Pankow ein. Erstmal hieß es Blase leeren, und dabei wurde man auch schon schön mit der passenden Musik beschallt. Von draußen klang es ein wenig wie Black Metal, umso erstaunter war ich als ich die Band erblickte und die 3 Symphoniker so gar nicht wie ne BM-Band aussahen. Als erstes (oder besser gesagt die ersten 3 Lieder die ich mitbekommen habe) dachte ich es wäre noch Soundcheck, denn irgendwie sah es auf der Bühne doch sehr entspannt aus. Der Sänger hockte ab und zu mal auf dem Boden, dann trank er mal wieder nen Schluck, dann hat die Band untereinander nen bißchen gequatscht. Irgendwann merkte ich aber das es schon der Auftritt ist und lauschte mal nen bißchen aufmerksamer. Meine Verwirrung wurde von Lied zu Lied immer größer, denn bei den Dust Devils fand wirklich jede Stilistik ihren Platz. Was eben noch, vom Drumming her, wie alte Darkthrone klang, uferte nur Sekunden später in Grindcoregebolze aus. Der Sänger hatte ne schöne abgrundtiefe Death Metal Stimme bei der sollte er aber auch bleiben, denn diese zwischenzeitliche Rumgequieke klang nun wirklich schon sehr lächerlich (ich war noch nie nen Freund von Grindcore). Irgendwann hatte die Band keine Lust mehr, was ganz natürlich ist, denn hätten die Dust Devils Applaus hören wollen hätten sie sich selbst beklatschen müssen. Blick licht 2 -17 KULTURMAGAZIN COTTBUS-LAUSITZ-KOSTENLOS BLICKLICHT Februar2017 Editorial Donald Trump – mit diesem Namen ist eigentlich alles gesagt und gleichzeitig nichts. Ganz ehrlich: klammheimlich genieße ich dieses absurde Spektakel. Jeden Tag kann ich irgend- wo im Internet und verschiedenen Medien Skandalöses und Absurdes finden – wie sich dies eben für ein Spektakel gehört. Im Grunde genommen bleibt Trump aber bei seinen Positi- onen, die sich aber auch nicht so recht operationalisieren lassen, wirft Nebelkerzen, und alle Kommentatoren stochern seit Wochen und Monaten in diesem seinen Nebel – nichts genaues weiß man nicht… Doch eines ist klar, der Regent „für die einfachen Menschen“ hat zunächst einmal verschiedene andere Milliardäre in der Regierung in Stellung gebracht. Und so ist es in der Politik wie im Leben: es kommt nicht darauf an, was Leute sagen, son- dern was sie tun. Der Machtübergang kann auch als Übergang verschiedener Kapitalfrak- tionen gelesen werden: diejenigen, die nicht von der Globalisierung profitieren, weil sie Burger verkaufen (lassen) oder in Kohle und Stahl investiert haben, versus die Wall-Street (bei der aber auch viele schon mal arbeiteten). Zumindest ist die Herrschaft der Ökonomie in den USA gesichert. Dass der Machtübergang dann friedlich war, ist scheinbar der ein- zige Vorteil der Demokratie der USA, in der die Menschen zumindest noch wählen können, welche der Kapitalfraktionen ihnen weniger schadet. Wie passend war es da, dass „Mono für alle“ am Tag der Amtseinführung von Trump im Muggefug spielte und in der Zugabe dann eben auch die berühmte Zeile sang: „Und der Cover:FotovonIrisStriegler elfte September war für mich ein wunderschöner Tag – ich weiß noch genau, dass die Sonne schien und die Vögel sangen im Park.“ Dabei ging es ihnen gerade darum, sich an- zuschauen, was in der Lebenswelt direkt vor den Menschen liegt – nicht was entfernt und über Medien transportiert bei uns noch ankommt und wogegen wir eigentlich beinahe keine Handlungsoptionen haben. -

SODOM „Lords Of Depravity Part I“ DDVD ROAXFILMS Ein Ronald Matthes Film Review: Klanggewitter Bevor Tom Angelripper (v., b.), Bernemann (g.) und Bobby Schottkowski (d.) zu den ‚Meistern der Verdorbenheit' werden konnten, entwickelten sie sich erst einmal zu den ‚Meistern der Verspätung'. Seit Anfang des Jahres 2004 wurde auf der offiziellen Sodom Homepage www.sodomized.info von der ersten DVD der Bandgeschichte gesprochen, der erste definitive Veröffentlichungstermin lag im März 2005. Nach ca. 666 Verschiebungen ist es nun endlich soweit: „Lords of depravity, part 1“ erblickt das Licht der Welt und so abgedroschen diese Floskel auch klingen mag das Warten, so sehr es den geneigten Sodom Fan im Vorfeld auch genervt hat, hat sich absolut gelohnt! Das sympathische Thrash Metal Trio hat bei der Aufarbeitung der eigenen Bandgeschichte schnell festgestellt, dass das vorhandene Material den Rahmen einer Doppel-DVD locker sprengen würde, zumal das Ganze kein liebloser Schnellschuß werden sollte, sondern eine wirklich umfassende Darstellung der Geschichte Sodoms unter Berücksichtigung und Hinzuziehung (nahezu) aller ex-Musiker. Aus diesem Grund umfasst „Lords of depravity, part 1“ nun die Jahre 1982 bis 1995, während der zweite Teil sich mit den letzten zehn Jahren der Bandgeschichte beschäftigen wird. Hält man das Produkt in der Hand, fällt einem direkt mal die liebevoll gestaltete, absolut edle Verpackung auf. In einem zweifach aufklappbaren DVD-Digipak im Pappschuber befinden sich zwei Silberlinge, sowie gleich zwei Booklets im DVD-Format. Die erste DVD ist betitelt mit „Historical depravity“, die zweite nennt sich „Live depravity“. Das Booklet zu „Historical depravity“ umfasst 28 Seiten, auf denen die Jahre 1982 bis 1995 schon recht umfassend in Schrift und Bild zusammengefasst werden. -

According to Zagorski-Thomas (2014: 66), the »use of the term in music has been to describe the character of a particular individual or group's performance style and output, but can also relate to a record company or a producer.« He gives the example of producer Phil Spector, who worked with the same pool of musicians, and the Motown label with their iconic band the Funk Brothers, who recorded in the Snakepit studio. Other signature sounds from characteristic instruments and effects devices shape popular music genres (Brockhaus 2017). Even countries and cities can have signature sounds (Simmons 2004; Owsinski 2006; Zagorski- Thomas 2012; Massey 2015; Herbst 2019, 2021), e.g. Philly soul. Many ap- proaches for analysing a recording and its meaning have been pursued. Based on auditory analysis, von Appen (2015), Helms (2015), and Zagorski-Thomas (2015) have interpreted potential decisions in the production process con- cerning their creative and commercial reasons. But as Morey's (2008) analysis of the Arctic Monkeys' demos has shown, even highly skilled production ex- perts and musicologists can be wrong in their assumptions and interpreta- tions. -
