N. GOPAL. PREFEASIBILITY REPORT CHAPTER -1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.1. INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT /BACKGROUND INFORMATION: THIRU. N. GOPAL, has applied for grant quarrying lease to quarry Rough Stone deposit over an extent of 1.16.5Ha in S.F.No. 790/1B & 792/ 1(P) in SOKKANUR Village, KINATHUKADAVU Taluk, COIMBATORE District, Tamil Nadu for 5 years. The District Collector, COIMBATORE vide their letter no. Rc. No. 833/MINES/2016 dated 13.07.2017 have conveyed its decision to grant lease over an extent of 1.16.5 Ha in S.F.No. 790/ 1B & 792/ 1(P) in SOKKANUR Village, KINATHUKADAVU Taluk, COIMBATORE District, Tamil Nadu and requested THIRU. N. GOPAL to submit the approved mining plan through the Department of Geology and Mining , COIMBATORE and also obtain Environmental Clearance from DEIAA. Department of Geology and Mining, COIMBATORE vide their Rc. No. 833/MINES/2016 dated 25.09.2017 have approved the Mining Plan over an extent of 1.16.5 Ha in S.F.No. 790/ 1B & 792/ 1(P) in SOKKANUR Village, KINATHUKADAVU Taluk, COIMBATORE District, Tamil Nadu. (Copy of Mining plan approval letter enclosed). THIRU. N. GOPAL, Propose to quarry Rough Stone for 13771m3 /year from this lease applied area by open cast semi- mechanized mining technique. This feasibility report is prepared towards obtaining the Environmental Clearance. As per MOEF O.M. No. L - 11011/47/2011 –A.II (M) dated 18th May, 2012, leases of minor minerals also require environmental clearance. For getting environmental clearance, depending on the nature magnitude and capacity, the projects are categorized as “A” Category & “B” Category. “A” Category projects have to be cleared by MOEF while “B” Category by the District Environment Impact Assessment Authority (DEIAA). This being a small quarry of just 1.16.5Ha (< 25 Ha) it can be treated as B-2 category. 1.2 DETAILS OF THE AREA: Consent Patta land in S.F.Nos. 790/1B & 792/1(P) stands registered in the name of Mr.Nagamanikkam, S/o. Maiyilsamy Gounder & Mr.Sakthivel, S/o. Subbae Gounder vide Patta Nos. 375. the pattadars given consent to the applicant THIRU. N. GOPAL hence, the applicant has got surface right over the area. 2.1. Other Industries in the area Nil 2.1.2 PROJECT DESCIPTION Salient of the project are as follows: 1. Production Capacity 13771m³ / Year for Rough Stone, 2160 m³ / Year for Gravel 2. Geological reserves 291261m³ for Rough stone 3. Total waste The wastes are generated during the mining period is 7650m3 shall be proposed to Dumping the West & Southern side of the 7.5m boundary barrier of the lease area. Proposed Dump Dimensions: 150.0m(L) X 7.5m(W) X 6.8m(H) 4. Method of Mining: Opencast Shallow mining with drilling & blasting. 5. Main mining equipment Hydraulic excavator, jack hammers, Tippers, 6. Bench height & Slope Bench height of 6m and bench width of 5m is proposed for Rough Stone. 7. Life of mine 13771m³ /Year for Rough stone. Total Mineable reserves are 76506m³. Life of the Mine = 76506m3 / 13771m³ = 5.5 years. 8. Man power 18 including managerial staff 9. Water Requirement & source 2.5 KLD will be met from the bore well within the ML area or through tankers. Drinking & Domestic 0.750 KLD Purposes (in KLD) Dust Suppression (in KLD) 1.500 KLD Green belt (in KLD) 0.250 KLD Total 2.500 KLD 10. Infrastructure Mine office, store room, toilet, first-aid room and, magazine will be provided on semi- permanent structures with the lease area. Portable drinking water can be transported to the work site in tippers or can be at from bore well. 11. Use of Rough Stone & Gravel Rough stone are used mainly in construction industries. 12. Environmental status Being a small mine, impact of mining on environment will be negligible. The mining operation will provide more employment to the rural people and environment friendly operations. DISPOSAL OF WASTE: The wastes (10%) are generated during the mining period is 7650m3 shall be proposed to Dumping the West & Southern side of 7.5m boundary barrier of the lease area. Rough Stone exposes in the lease area and it is strewn with boulders of various sizes ranging from a few cm to one to half meter in diameter. The terrain is almost flat and it is cover with charnackite. Except some small bushes there are no other trees in the applied area. Depth of mining is taken as 26m from the surface. Leaving the Topsoil and weather rock, the thickness of Rough Stone considered now for economical extraction is 24m. Since there is mineral occurrence below this depth also, mining activity may continue in future below this depth. As such no backfilling of mined out void is suggested now. The post mining land use plan/ Conceptual plan along with cross section is shown as mining plan. 3.1. SITE ANALYSIS:ee 3.2. CONNECTIVITY: COIMBATORE– KINATHUKADAVU= 22.0km KINATHUKADAVU – SOKKANUR = 8.0Km Quarry site is located in Southern side at a distance of 3.0Km. 3.3. PROJECT LATOUT IN RELATION TO PRIME NATURAL FEATURES: There is no declared biosphere, wild life Sanctuaries, or tiger Sanctuary or migrating corridor or Coastal Zone in the Zone and 10km suffer zone. As already mentioned, the entire mine lease area is Consent Patta Land is some others possession and all other Owners are given consent .There are no habitation or other structures like HT electric lines in the lease area. No Water bodies around 500m radius. 4.1. PLANNING CONCEPT: Rough Stone mined from this quarry will meet the domestic and export demands. The production and method of mining is planned considering the geological factors, availability of proven technology, demand for the material etc. Safety barriers as per State Government order is left in the planning stage itself. 4.2. GREENBELT: Green belt will be developed in the safety zone area etc, and at all possible places. Local species will be used for plantation. 5.1 REHABILITATION AND RESETTLEMENT (R&R) PLAN: The Consent Patta Land S.F.No. 790/1B & 792/1(P). There are no human habitations also. As such no rehabilitation and resettlement plan is involved. 6.1. PROJECT SCHEDULE AND COST ESTIMATES: As soon as environmental clearance and other statutory clearance are obtained, the mining operations will be commenced The project cost would be around Rs. 29,50,000/- for deployment of machinery and creation of infrastructural facilities like approach road, Mine Office / Workers Shed, first Aid Room etc., Including electrifications and water supply. 7.1 ANALYSIS OF PROPOSAL (FINAL RECOMMENDATION) The proposed Rough Stone of THIRU. N. GOPAL Rough Stone will bring prosperity and improvements in physical and social infrastructures in the area like Direct employment to about 18 persons Indirect employment to more than 100 persons Financial gains for the state and central governments, through collection of various taxes like Royalty, cess, etc. Increase in General Awareness of the People Improvement of the General Living Standard of the people in the vicinity Overall Improvement in HDI (Human Development Index) Growth of Allied Industries in the Area. Reduction in migration of local people and at the same time increase in Inflow from outside. Improvement in Per Capital Income. Providing certain faculties‟ for the local schools and panchayats In short, the working mining project will region in the fields of potential employment opportunities, improved per capita for local people , improved social welfare facilities like infrastructural build – up , etc. A meticulously well planned Environmental Management Plan, with various programme schedules and timely execution objectives will ensure that the future environmental quality in the area will be maintained within statutory limits.

    COIMBATORE DISTRICT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY DISTRICT HUMAN DEVELOPMENT REPORT COIMBATORE DISTRICT Introduction The ancient Kongunadu was made up of places currently known as Palani, Dharapuram, Karur, Nammakkal, Thiruchengodu, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Satyamangalam, Nilgiris, Avinashi, Coimbatore, Pollachi and Udumalpet. Kongunadu was blessed with a pleasant climate and distinct features. The region was ruled successively by several dynasties of South India. Under the Cholas during the 11th century, the present-day Coimbatore came into existence as a jungle village under an Irula chieftain. The district was occupied by Mysore rulers in the 18th century from the Madurai rulers and after the Mysore wars in 1799, the district was occupied by the British, until the Indian independence in 1947. The district is known for its textile industries and hence called as ‘Manchester of South India’. Today, Coimbatore district is one of the industrially advanced districts of the State of Tamil Nadu and Coimbatore city is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu. In 1979 Coimbatore district was bifurcated in to Coimbatore and Erode districts. Again in 1 2008, four taluks from Coimbatore District namely Tiruppur, Udumalpet, Palladam and Avinashi (Part) were carved out to form part of the newly formed Tiruppur district. The present Coimbatore district consists of three revenue divisions of Coimbatore and Pollachi and contains ten taluks. Coimbatore is one among the industrially developed and commercially vibrant districts of Tamil Nadu. It has got high concentration of small scale industries and medium and large scale industries. Geography Coimbatore district is located at North Latitude between 10° 10’ and 11° 30’ and East Longitude between 76° 40’ and 77° 30’.
