House Resolution 1813 By: Representatives Abrams of the 84th, Hugley of the 133rd, Thomas of the 100th, Benfield of the 85th, Buckner of the 130th, and others

A RESOLUTION

1 Recognizing and commending Mr. Chris Lu; and for other purposes.

2 WHEREAS, Mr. Chris Lu is a graduate of and ; 3 and

4 WHEREAS, he began his career as a law clerk to Judge Robert E. Cowen of the United 5 States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit then spent four years as a litigation associate 6 at Sidley and Austin in Washington, D.C.; and

7 WHEREAS, Mr. Lu serves as the Cabinet Secretary in the and President 8 Obama's primary liaison to the Cabinet departments and agencies, helping coordinate policy 9 and communications strategy; and

10 WHEREAS, he plays a vital role in managing the flow of information between the White 11 House and the federal departments and in representing the interests of the Cabinet to the 12 White House; and

13 WHEREAS, he is one of President Obama's longest serving advisors, starting in 2005 as 14 Legislative Director for President Obama while he was senator, becoming Acting Chief of 15 Staff in the office and was named Executive Director of the 16 Obama-Biden Transition Project in 2008; and

17 WHEREAS, during his 15 years of government experience, Mr. Lu spent eight years as 18 Deputy Chief Counsel of the House Government Reform Committee and served as Special 19 Advisor for Communications for the Kerry-Edwards presidential campaign in 2004; and

20 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this 21 remarkable and distinguished man be appropriately recognized.

22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that 23 the members of this body commend Mr. Chris Lu for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and 24 dedicated public service to his country.

25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized 26 and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Chris Lu.
