About the Canadian Elite League (CEBL)

The Canadian Elite Basketball League is a domestic professional basketball league with teams located across . The CEBL is providing sports fans with a premium entertainment option while also allowing players, coaches and other stakeholders the opportunity to engage in the sport of basketball at the highest level. The CEBL operates in accordance with the player and referee standards set by Canada Basketball, the National Sporting Organization for the sport of Basketball in Canada. The league proudly adheres to the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) rules and regulations.

About the Professional Basketball Club The Guelph Nighthawks are one of six founding teams in the CEBL. Guelph plays its home games at the , conveniently located in the heart of . The club provides fans with a fully integrated entertainment experience starting well before tip-off in the downtown core. Once inside the Sleeman Centre the club delivers a unique blend of entertainment for both the passionate basketball fan and those looking for local family-friendly entertainment, including affordable family-oriented seating sections, VIP courtside seating, and the sights and sounds of live DJ’s and cheer squads.

The Guelph Nighthawks Professional Basketball Club is looking for a qualified self-starter to assist its operations team. The successful candidate must have a passion for sports and should be looking to impact the community in which they work.

Please note that those completing the internship for academic credit take priority.

Ideal Candidate: ● The ideal candidate is someone who is looking to learn all aspects of a professional sports team. From time spent strategizing marketing initiatives to learning the sales and operations side of the team to time spent with basketball operations. This internship will allow the successful candidate the opportunity to take part in all aspects of the Guelph Nighthawks

Responsibilities: (Included but not limited to) ​ ● Observe sales process by travelling with the sales team to meet with potential and existing clients ● Assist in evaluating and securing new sponsorship opportunities ● Support for key departments including but not limited to; operations, sales, marketing, basketball operations ● Actively contributing to Nighthawks administrative duties ● Manage ‘Hawk Shop Official Team Store’ on occasion

● Ongoing support for key facets of the teams overall business objectives ● Manage and respond to various organizational email accounts ● Liaise with organizational constituents as required ensuring all work is completed efficiently ● Coordinate and execute Nighthawks events as required ● Support Nighthawks sales team as needed ● Monitor and create content for the Nighthawks marketing initiatives ● Creation of content and league documentation in accordance with the Nighthawks mission and vision ● Support Nighthawks Community Engagement Team ● Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: ● Currently studying sports management, business, event management or a related field ● Experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications considered an asset ● Valid Driver’s License ● Proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications

Required Skills: ​ ● A proven work ethic with experience working in the sport industry ● Able to meet deadlines as assigned ● Able to work autonomously as well as in a team environment

Availability: ● Monday - Friday (9 AM - 5 PM ) with some evening and weekend work required
