AMBIENTE – Originaria delle zone montane del bacino mediterraneo, in Italia è molto comune su tutto il territorio. Cresce nei prati poveri, nei pascoli, nei luoghi erbosi, nelle radure boschive, dal piano a 1500m. CARATTERI BOTANICI FUSTO – La parte aerea del fusto è ascendente (legnosa in basso). La superficie è ricoperta di peli inclinati. I fusti sono alti 30-80 cm. FOGLIE – Le foglie, opposte, sono ovato-ellittiche e crenato- serrate ai margini. FIORI – I fiori hanno una grande corolla bilabiata e sono azzurro- violacei o rosa, riuniti in infiorescenze ascellari. Fioritura: maggio- ottobre FRUTTI - Il frutto è uno schizocarpo composto da 4 nucule glabre e lisce. Le nucule sono provviste di areole di colore marrone. USI - La pianta ha proprietà terapeutiche digestive, diaforetiche, carminative, febbrifughe, stomachiche ed espettoranti. I suoi principi attivi si trovano in oli essenziali, mucillagini e tannini e si consumano sotto forma di infusi o tinture. È usata anche contro la depressione, l'insonnia e i dolori mestruali. Le foglie tritate insaporiscono, con un gradevole aroma simile a Satureja nepetoides Famiglia LAMIACEAE quello della menta, numerosi piatti di carne, pesce e funghi. Vi si può produrre del miele, ma è rarissimo, perché la pianta, anche MENTUCCIA, NEPETELLA se abbastanza comune, non è mai abbondante; comunque è molto bottinata dalle api ed è buona una fonte di nettare e ETIMOLOGIA - L'etimologia del nome Satureja è incerta. Forse polline. In Sicilia entra a far parte dell'aromatizzazione delle olive da tavola. Nel Lazio si usa per la preparazione dei carciofi alla deriva dalla radice latina "satura" che significa "sazia", in riferimento alle supposte proprietà digestive dei succhi delle romana. -

Hence the need to design a database of the Italian alimurgic flora: AlimurgITA. Only strictly alimurgic taxa were chosen, excluding casual alien and cultivated ones. The collected data come from an archive of 358 texts (books and scientific articles) from 1918 to date, chosen with appropriate criteria. For each taxon, the part of the plant used, the method of use, the chorotype, the biological form and the regional distribution in Italy were considered. The 1103 taxa of edible flora already entered in the database equal 13.09% of Italian flora. The most widespread family is that of the Asteraceae (20.22%); the most widely used taxa are Cichorium intybus and Borago officinalis. The not homogeneous regional distribution of WEPs (maximum in the south and minimum in the north) has been interpreted. Texts published reached its peak during the 2001–2010 decade. Abstract The current research included a comprehensive study of the genus Clinopodium L.(Lamiaceae) in Iraq. The study examined the characteristics of the four taxa of this genus included Clinopodium vulgaresub sp. vulgare L., Clinopodium vulgare sub sp. arundanum Boiss., Clinopodium congstum Boiss. & Hausskn ex. Boiss., Clinopodiumum brosum (M. B.) C. Koch, for the first time, including the study of the external appearance of the roots, stems, leaves, bracts, bracteoles, flowers, fruits and nutlets. Also the characteristics of the value of the classification of the genus were not mentioned previously, The flowering calyx, the contact points of the filaments with anthers, the connection of the stamens to the petals, the stamens are four where two lower pairs are longer than two upper ones while all were shorter than corolla. In all studied genera the filaments are exerted from lower lip, the color of the corolla, the shape of the nutlets and it’s surface ornamentation, the location of its hilum and it’s color, and study of the indumentum of the parietal cover of all parts of the plant, and draw diagrams of the various parts of the plant and its subsidiaries for the photographic images and the work of tables for all measurements and attributes for all parts of the characters of the all parts of studied taxa was also identified the environment and the quality of the soil in which the growth of plants and state the flowering periods of all studded taxa and determine the geographical distribution of the district of Iraq in Iraqi Kurdistan Region. -

The conservation contributions from this holiday raised £700, namely £40 per person topped up by Gift Aid through the Honeyguide Wildlife Charitable Trust. Honeyguide is committed to supporting the protection of Lilium rhodopaeum. The Rhodope lily is a scarce endemic flower of the Western Rhodopes, found on just a handful of sites in Bulgaria and just over the border in Greece, about half of which have no protection. Money raised in 2014 was enough to fund Honeyguide leader Vlado Trifonov, who is recognised as the leading authority on the Rhodope lily, for monitoring and mowing for two years at the location visited by Honeyguiders. That includes this year (2015). That work is likely to continue for some years, but other conservation needs in the future are uncertain. -

Photo: Barbara Eisenstein San Francisco Stormwater Management Requirements and Design Guidelines Low impact design (LID) offers an important opportunity to integrate San Francisco’s native landscape into ongoing urban development, creating ecologically significant patches of habitat that also function as stormwater management facilities. Introduction Low Impact Development (LID) seeks to use natural processes to manage stormwater runoff as close as possible to its source. Bioretention is a specific tool used in LID. Bioretention is characterized by a depressed planted area designed to collect stormwater runoff from a contributing area, while utilizing the physical and chemical processes of plants, soils, and microbes to slow, store and/or convey, filter, and infiltrate stormwater runoff. The City’s LID efforts are contributing to an expanding patchwork of bioretention throughout San Francisco. This appendix describes important considerations regarding plant selection for LID and bioretention and includes a palette of climate-appropriate plants that can tolerate the periodic inundation and soil saturation characteristics of bioretention planters, basins, and swales. The selection and installation of plants should consider climate, context, site conditions, natural plant communities and habitat. Below is an overview of these important considerations. IL GENERE ACINOS Famiglia Lamiaceae (o Labiatae) Acinos L. fu classificato da Linneo nel 1753. Il nome generico Acinos è preso dal latino ăcĭnǒs (usato da Plinio per riferirsi a una qualità di basilico o a erba aromatica in generale) a sua volta derivato dal greco ακιυος. Il termine greco si riferiva alla pianta di timo e, per la somiglianza tra i due generi, Linneo chiamò l’Acinos alpinus con il nome Tymus alpinus. Il genere Acinos comprende una decina di specie legnose annuali o perenni, ma di corta vita, originarie del sud-Europa e dell’Asia occidentale. Hanno dimensioni ridotte non raggiungendo mezzo metro di altezza. ACINOS ALPINUS Acinos alpinus (L.)
