Tribune Broadcasting Company, LLC April 18, 2016 SUMMARY These Reply Comments are submitted by the AM Radio Preservation Alliance (the “Alliance”) addressing those proposals in the Commission’s Further Notice of Proposed Rule Making, FCC 15-142, MB Docket No. 13-249 (the “FNPRM”) to alter interference protections for Class A AM stations and to reduce the protected daytime contours for Class B, C and D AM stations. These FNPRM proposals, and the variations thereof suggested by certain commenters, would do more harm than good, and if adopted, would undermine the efforts to revitalize the AM radio service undertaken in the Commission’s First Report and Order in this proceeding. The Alliance Comments filed in this docket submitted evidence, grounded in audience data, listener responses and engineering studies, establishing that the FNPRM proposals to protect Class A AM stations only to their 0.1 mV/m groundwave

  • EMWIN Text Product Catalog
NWS EMWIN Text Product Catalog (rev 210525) This document addresses the identification of text products appearing on the US National Weather Service (NWS) Emergency Managers Weather Information Network (EMWIN) service. Information on the image products on the EMWIN service is published here: https://www.weather.gov/media/emwin/EMWIN_Image_and_Text_Data_Capture_Catalog_v1.3d.pdf The information in this document identifies the data used by the NWS in the operation of the EMWIN dissemination service. The EMWIN service is available to the public on the NESDIS HRIT/EMWIN satellite broadcast from the GOES-East (GOES-16) and GOES-West (GOES-17) satellites, and on the NWS EMWIN FTP file service. Further information is available on the Documents tab of the NWS EMWIN web page: https://www.weather.gov/emwin/ Text products on the EMWIN service may be separated into two groups: International Products. International products – those received from countries outside the United States (US), its possessions and territories – are formatted to WMO standards per WMO Pub 386. Appendix A - AWDS Table, provides an explicit list of International text products by WMO header. Note - The US National Weather Service does release a smaller set of products grouped with the International Products by virtue of the absence of an AWIPS ID on the line immediately following the WMO header (see “US National Products” below). US National Products. US National products are formatted to WMO standards per WMO Pub 386, but include an AWIPS ID field on the line immediately following the WMO header. This field is six bytes in length consisting of four to six left-justified alpha-numeric characters and spaces to fill to the six byte field length where necessary.

By A capstone project submitted for Graduation with University Honors University Honors University of California, Riverside APPROVED _______________________________________________ Dr. Department of _______________________________________________ Dr. Richard Cardullo, Howard H Hays Jr. Chair, University Honors Abstract Many individuals use social media platforms as a form of entertainment or as something that allows them to keep in touch with today’s society. We, as a generation, have become attached to cellular devices, the desire to keep in immediate contact with each other, oversharing personal information, and access to the internet. This past summer I had the opportunity to work alongside the Social/Digital Media Team as one of two Digital Media interns at iHeartMedia in Burbank. My internship was specifically aligned with iHeartRadio, a subdivision of iHeartMedia. Within the iHeartMedia Burbank office, there are 8 in house radio stations that fall under iHeartRadio and cater to a range of different markets and have a reach of around 12.5 million people every week. Their in-house stations, in no particular order, are 102.7 KIIS fm, 104.3 MYfm, KOST 103.5, ALT 98.7, REAL 92.3, KFI AM640, LA Sports AM 570, and The Patriot AM 1150. Looking more specifically at the subdivision, iHeartRadio is a free broadcast and internet radio platform that supports the streaming of their in-house radio stations, national radio stations, podcasts, and many other features like artist specific playlists. I was able to witness the importance of social media from the perspective of iHeartMedia as a mass media communications company, from the perspective of their subdivision marketing of iHeartRadio, and from the perspective of the individual radio stations within the building.

According to the Hartford Courant, Mark Blake is operating the station from studios in Bloomfield, CT, and says that he "stands behind" the station's operation. Although there have been no interference complaints filed, other stations in the area are claiming they are losing advertising dollars to the pirate.

  • Shift from WGN Recalls Old Comfort Zone for Fans, Station, Cubs
Shift from WGN recalls old comfort zone for fans, station, Cubs By George Castle, CBM Historian Posted Monday, June 9th, 2014 Wowww! Let’s go, batter up, we’re taking the afternoon off….It’s a beautiful day for a ballgame, for a ballgame today. The fans are out to get a ticket or two, from Walla Walla, Washington to Kalamazoo… Everything changes – even the most comfy things that fit to a tee. Familiarity and memories of childhood soundtracks of summer is why we’re all wrung out with the news the Cubs’ radio rights have shift- ed to WBBM-Radio from their 57-season home 60 kc down the dial at WGN. The news wasn’t unexpected. WGN re- opened its Cubs contract – not the other way around – before this season because it was losing its financial shirt, unable to re- coup enough ad revenue to cover produc- tion costs when the baseball ratings had gone in the dumper. A move like this be- came inevitable – just the timing was in question – after Tribune Co. sold the Cubs to the cash-hungry Ricketts family, which is saddled with a heavy debt service man- dated by corporate shark Sam Zell as the structure of the sale. Lou Boudreau (top) and Jack Quinlan in WGN- As long as Tribune Co. -- which acquired Radio's first season with the Cubs radio rights in the embryonic WGN in 1924 -- had um- 1958. brella ownership of the Cubs and WGN TV -radio properties, change was going to be far off in the future. But all bets were off once the team and broadcasters diverged under www.ChicagoBaseballMuseum.org [email protected] separate corporate entities.
