They are now 34-34 with Craig Counsell as manager. Even more encouraging for Counsell's relatively short tenure in office, in their past 22 games, the Brewers are 16-6. Over the weekend, they accomplished a three-game sweep over the Pirates, who came to town with the second-best record in the National League. The numbers say that the change in managers was beneficial and that Counsell is a success so far, in both relative and absolute terms. Beyond that, there are varying explanations for Milwaukee's marked improvement. Counsell goes with the position that improved health, particularly the return to the lineup of catcher Jonathan Lucroy and center fielder Carlos Gomez, has been the driving force behind the Brewers' improved play. City staff and representatives from Big Top Baseball will present information on the proposed enhancements to the Frame Park Baseball facility and possible redevelopments along Whiterock Avenue. The proposal is being advanced to provide enhancements to the Frame Park baseball stadium where Carroll University, Waukesha South and Waukesha North currently play along with several other entities. The unique partnership will provide a long-term enhancement to the park, while also serving as a catalyst to continue downtown Waukesha redevelopment efforts. The Northwoods League games provide affordable, family friendly entertainment and attract visitors that will support businesses in our downtown area. Key provisions of the proposal include the development of a parking plan and the preservation of existing uses at the field. It is important to note that the improvements will be enhancement to the existing field, and will be contained in the current approximate boundary of the baseball field. All other uses of the park will be preserved including the trails, formal gardens and playground areas.

This year, in addition to the $100,000 gift to Enderis Park, we will distribute $50,000 to deserving nonprofits Wisconsin in the five-county Milwaukee area. A committee of 22 dedicated Club members spent 217 hours reviewing 27 Foundation Day grant applications. Twenty-two organizations were selected to receive grants between $2,000 - $3,500 for their work in the areas of the Arts and Arts Education, Health and Human Services, and Education. Celebrating At the luncheon, all grant recipients will have the opportunity to speak about their organizations and how 50 Years of Giving they will put our Foundation dollars to work to improve the community. We hope all members will attend — and bring a friend — as we celebrate “the Club’s finest hour.” The 2017 Grant Allocation Committee has completed its work.
