If you just want to cut the beginning or end of an audio file… Or make some minor edits to somebody elses music… Then skip past this section. If not, and you just want a simple audio editor, keep reading… 1 Musician on a Mission Audacity (Windows, Mac, Linux) This is the most popular audio editor, and my top recommendation. In fact, you can also record and mix music with this (to an extent). It looks a bit ancient, but it gets the job done. This is an awesome starting point for anyone wanting a free editor. Link: Audacity 2 Musician on a Mission WavePad (Windows, Mac, iPad, Android) Not as popular as Audacity, but it has some useful features. Why is this number 2? Because it does batch processing - and that’s awesome. You can apply compression, reverb, EQ or any effect to a number of audio files at once. This can save you HOURS in the right situation.
