He Santi Aldama, Loyola Maryland, So., F is one of two players in League history to accomplish both. Cam Davis, Navy, Sr., G Colgate Head Coach Matt Langel on Burns: “Jordan is extremely deserving of this award. I’m really happy for him to have been acknowl- edged by the coaches, especially in his senior campaign. He has had a storybook career at Colgate. He had a Player of the Year type Second-Team All-Patriot League season last year, but he also had other guys on his team who had Player of the Year type seasons. Ultimately, not being recognized with Lonnie Grayson, Army West Point, Sr., G that major award last year, it makes it that much sweeter for him to have earned that accomplishment this year. Most importantly for Javante McCoy, Boston University, Sr., G me, over the course of his four years, we have been in contention for a championship each year. With his style of play and how much we Nelly Cummings, Colgate, Jr., G have had the ball in his hands, that’s truly a testament to who he is as a player. Amidst all of the individual accolades and opportunities, Austin Butler, Holy Cross, Sr., G it’s the team’s successes that have come first. As enjoyable as it is to coach a guy with Jordan’s talents, it has been just as enjoyable to E.J. Stephens, Lafayette, Sr., G watch him grow and develop into the young man that he is today.” Burns on receiving the honor: “I am truly honored to be named the Patriot League Player of the Year. I’m so grateful for my coaching Third-Team All-Patriot League staff putting me in the best position to succeed. I’m also grateful for my teammates who continue to push me to be the best I can be day Walter Whyte, Boston University, Jr. F in and day out. I know this wouldn’t be possible without y’all. Last but not least, I’d like to thank my family, mentors, Colgate University John Meeks, Bucknell, Sr., F and all who have supported me up until this moment. It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get here but I’d do it all over again. I’m Tucker Richardson, Colgate, Jr., G beyond blessed to receive this award. Thank you.” Gerrale Gates, Holy Cross, Jr., F Marques Wilson, Lehigh, Sr., G 2020-21 Patriot League Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Year Josh Caldwell, Army West Point, Jr., G, Patriot League All-Defensive Team Columbia, S.C./Heathwood Hall (USMAPS) Stacy Beckton Jr., American, Sr., G *Caldwell led the Patriot League in steals (38) and ranked 33rd in Josh Caldwell, Army West Point, Jr. G NCAA DI in steals per game (2.00 spg) in 19 games this season. *He posted 12 multi- games including four in Army West Point’s Jonas Harper, Boston University, Jr., G 75-73 win over Colgate, the Raiders’ lone loss of the season. I want to thank my coaches and Patriot League Academic Team teammates for putting me in a position to be successful. This team prides itself on being solid defensively, and me earning this award is Connor Nelson, American, Jr., F a product of our efforts. Guarding one of the opposing team’s best players every week is the ultimate challenge each and every week. DeChellis on receiving the honor: “I am humbled by this award. It goes without saying I have an outstanding team of talented young men to coach. The credit for this award goes to them, along with assistant coaches Emmett Davis, Drew Gibson, Adam Notteboom and Jon Perry, strength coach Brandon Spayd and athletic trainer Hannah Jaussen, who kept putting us back together during this COVID season. They all did an incredible job, and I am so proud to work with them daily! I accept this award on their behalf.”
